2006 Saturn Ion
Dome light won't go off after disengaging.
After getting out of the car the dome light stays on.
Recently, replaced drivers side door jab to shut off dome light.
Possibly drained or wore down the battery.
Could it be a short on the drivers side door wiring?
Could it be lack of battery power?
oh.. And also when driving my power steering goes off.
Replaced the fuse once.....and it happened again.
I will actually here the click before the power steering goes off.

A door-closed switch is failing 'open', I suppose. Most likely the drivers' side one (which gets the most use?), but it could be any. Replace that ******! (Ask for details at the Saturn Parts counter.)

sounds like you have a faulty relay switch, relay's are contact breakers that open and close when power to them is asked for, ( like small timer switches ),your symptoms sound like this type of fault......

Forgive me if I seem to be over simplifying, but have you have you tried rotating the knob to left of the steering wheel (below the a/c vent)? If you rotate it all the way clockwise, it 'clicks' and the dome lamp comes on. Rotate counterclockwise and the dome lamp goes off and you adjust the brightness of the interior lights.

When this happened to mine it ended up being a bad door switch. The alarm, dome/map lights and electric door locks are all connected to the door switches. It cost $65 for diagnosis, parts and labor at Saturn of South Burlington VT
