94 Jeep wont start running after 3 seconds.

Hi,

My 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4WD worked perfectly until yesterday!

We drove it 60 miles, stopped for 6 hours, then got in to leave and it started, ran for 3 seconds and quit. Never have we had this problem.

It was very cold that day. We pushed it inside into a heated garage. After 24 hours of warmth, it still won't stay running after it starts.

We added gas treatment, added oil, we can hear the fuel pump doing its thing when we turn the key to start the car.

The battery is new. It runs strong for 3 seconds, doesn't flutter at all, then dies.

Can you help?

It could be the security system or maybe a crank sensor.

94 jeep grand cherokee, trannys slippg in 1s gear, added lucas stop slip, started next day, drve a few feet and it wont engage.......

Transmission might be fried. One suggestion, did you try putting it in 4WD and trying that? I had a Jeep come in, same thing, wont move, ended up being a blown transfer case. Put it in 4 hi or low, and see if it will go into gear and move. Long shot, but worth a try.

Switching back 4WD to 2WD - 1998 Jeep Cherokee 4L Limited Petrol

With any 4WD like this, always move a few feet in the opposite direction when disengaging. If you were moving fwd in 4wd, switch to 2wd, back up a few feet, then go fwd.

94 Jeep Grand Cherokee heater coil has been replaced wont start

If you have a security system, close all the doors and then lock the drivers door with the key, then unlock it. That should re-set the system. I've had the computer completely disconnected from mine several times (used it to check another vehicle) and I don't have security...it started and ran fine...only difference between the two is the security so I'd try that.

Transmission wont shift until about 4000rpms from 1st to 2nd gea

Have a code check done and see if speed sensor or controller is working properly. if bought from a dealer, get it back there asap...they can't sell it in that condition!!...No test drive before you ploped down your money?
