Are you sure the battery is up to snuff. A low battery will let the lights come on but not enough power to turn engine over. If you hear a clicking sound when you try to start the engine that usually means the battery is low. Try boosting or put a charger on the battery and try that.
TSB 08-9-7 says to reprogram powertrain control module to latest calibration IDS release B54.8and higher or B55.1 or higher. This has been an issue for some time now.
No solution. Just got the EXACT same issue last weekend. myfordfreestyle notes said to remove air intake and clean throttle body with basic tb cleaner. seemed to help, but getting some more engine reving during routine shift into park situations.
How old is the battery??? Was the battery load tested??? Are the battery connections tight and clean?
If the battery has a short in one of the cells inside, it will not hold enough voltage and eventually drain its self out. Your engine managment components need to have at least 12.0 volts to work correctly, if the battery voltage falls below a specific value, lets say 10.0 volts, the computer will shut down the vehicle. Just a thought, and 5 years from any battery is an outstanding life expectancy, but near it's end.
it sound to me that possibly the old alternator spiked a surge and might have damaged something in the ECU for the ignition system which shuts the engine and everything down. something heats up over time and then shuts down. try checking the pcm, it might be malfunctioning. oh by the way, does it set off a cel(check engine light)? hope this helps out.
