I have 1990 nissan stanza with the shifter linkage problems. how much is a shop gonna charge me?

The turn signal flasher unit is located behind the instrument panel to the right of the steering column near the cruise control unit. (See picture)

One of your axle shaft seals or the speed sensor o-ring is leaking. Those are the only three things back there that can be leaking. Have them all checked out and replaced as needed.

Sounds like the piece of wood loosened / bent / damaged the transmission linkage. Needs inspecting / repairing. More info, let me know.

Recommend a 1990 Nissan Stanza Chilton's repair book from the auto parts store. It will give you step by step instructions on replacing your fan belt to rebuilding your Nissan's motor and a lot of other stuff.

yes if both trannys are the same should be able to change shifters

its normally located under the instrument panel and steering wheel base on the drivers side.

FUEL PUMP RELAY Located under the drivers side of the dash near the firewall.

Well you got that far, are you comfortable with replacing a timing chain & gears? Sounds like their shot, and that's why no distributor turning. If your not experienced it may be better to check around for a friend who is, or local shops for a price quote on repairs. Sorry, wish I had better news.
