Were the calipers check for not sticking, as well as lubed well when re-installed? If it's original flex hoses at calipers, that's also a consideration.

My 2000 gmc envoy also gets hot and smokes, replaced calipers, brake hoses and brakes. it also feels like pressure builds up but wont release until it sits for awhile. for some reason its like the brakes do what they want. if i remove my foot from gas on an incline it actually stops and sits there, i dont even have to touch the brake. any clue whats going on?
It has been my experience, replacing the calipers when they fail to release, usualy solves the problem of smoking and sticky brakes.
If it is smoking you would think. Somthing is leaking on it like is the brake line leaking fluid in it making it smoke . Did you clean every thing good with brake clean making shure there is no oil or grease on there .
