My 2002 Honda CR-V's keyless remote has stopped working to lock/unlock the driver's side. All other doors lock/ unlock with remote. the problem is that unless the driver's door is locked or unlocked first, the others cannot be unlocked. I can lock the car with the key or by using the driver's door lock switch.

I am assuming that you had an Aftermarket Alarm installed and probably not equipped to do this function. The Aftermarket Alarms normally have a horn to signal activation.
-If the problem is that keyless remote does unlock or lock door, but the lock lever still move when pulling up and down by hand. Door still open and close with both inner and outer, then might the driver door lock actuator is bad. The actuator lock and unlock the door for you when using the keyless remote or door lock/unlock switch.
-if you try using the key to unlock door and the key doesn't turn the door cylinder, then you have a bad door lock cylinder.
-if the lock lever doesn't move up or down and you can't open door using any handle, then you got a bad lock latch assembly.
I'm not sure what the issue is but hope this helps you.
Find the fuse located in the engine compartment or lower driver's side dash. Disconnecting the negative battery cable should also do the job. Admit this is an unusual problem, the same solenoid in the door locks and unlocks the door and may be jammed or being energized to lock the door.
Note: Entering the programming mode cancels all learned keyless remotes, so none of the previously programmed remotes will work. You must reprogram all of the keyless remotes once you are in the programming mode. You must complete each step within 5 seconds of the previous step to keep the system from exiting the programming mode. 1. Turn ignition switch to ON (II) 2. Press the LOCK or UNOCK button on one of the remotes. (An unprogrammed remote can be used for this step.) 3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK (0) 4. Repeat steps 1, 2 and 3 two more times using the same keyless remote used in step 2 5. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II) 6. Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button the same remote. Make sure the power door locks cycle to confirm you are in programming mode. 7. Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on each remote you want to program. Make sure door locks cycle after you push each remote button to confirm system has accepted the remote. 8. Turn the igniton switch to LOCK (0) to exit programming mode. 9. Test remote(s)
with the problem you are describing i would say you need to replace to drivers door lock actuator. or remove the door panel and see if a rod has popped off, or a clip broke holding the rod in place. actuators are somewhat of a pain to replace if you've never done one before. i've seen this exact problem many times and with a new door lock actuator you'll be all set.- hope this helps
this is the program procedure.- put key in the ignition. with one hand turn the key to the on position with the other hand hit the unlock button on the remote. do this 4 times and you should hear the doors unlock. (these steps need to be done fairly quickly) at this point hit the lock button and you will be all set
hello bryon.. the best and cheapest way to start is to replace the battery in the key fob (remote), then lock and unlock the vehicle remotely 5-7 times, then monitor for further malfunction...if so........was vehicle in gear when doors lock? is it locking while braking? are there any children pushing buttons? get back to me if this doesnt help...marty
