Camshaft position sensor location 2000 Honda Accord

A camshaft position (CMP) sensor is typically only used as a reference for sequential fuel injection into the cylinders by the powertrain control module (PCM). Technically speaking, the 2000 Honda Accord doesn't have a CMP sensor, rather a cylinder position sensor (CYP). This should not be confused with the crankshaft position sensor (CKP) which is primarily used for ignition timing. There are also two different engine options for the vehicle being the 2.3L 4-cylinder engine and the 3.0 V6 engine. Sensor locations will be different for each option so it's important to first identify which engine is in the vehicle. The CYP sensor for the 2.3L 4-cylinder engine is located inside the distributor and is not serviceable; the whole distributor would need to be replaced. The CYP sensor for the 3.0L V6 on the other hand is located behind the left camshaft pulley on the timing belt back cover and is a serviceable part. Where is 2003 ford focus camshafts position sensor

Camshaft Position Sensor
The camshaft position (CMP) sensor detects the position of the camshaft. The CMP sensor identifies when piston No. 1 is on its compression stroke. A signal is then sent to the powertrain control module (PCM) and used for synchronizing the firing of sequential fuel injectors. The Coil On Plug (COP) Ignition applications also use the CMP signal to select the proper ignition coil to fire. The input circuit to the PCM is referred to as the CMP input or circuit.
There are two types of CMP sensors: the three pin connector Hall-effect type sensor (Figure 25) and the two pin connector variable reluctance sensor

How do you change camshaft position sensor in 2000 ford contour

If you have a 2.0 liter 4-cyl, it's on the passenger side of the head on the firewall side. On the 2.5 liter V6, it's just below the front cylinder bank valve cove, on the passenger side, on the right side of the engine.

To remove the sensor:
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. On 2.0L engines, remove the air intake resonator.
  3. Unplug the connector from the CMP sensor.
  4. Remove the retaining bolt and remove the CMP sensor.
To install:
  1. Ensure the CMP sensor's mounting surface is clean, and the sensor's O-ring is in place.
  2. Install the CMP sensor and tighten the retaining bolt to 13-17 ft. lbs. on the 2.0L engine, and 71-106 inch lbs. on the 2.5L engine.
  3. Plug the CMP connector in.
  4. On 2.0L engines, install the air intake resonator.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
