Where is the fuel pump relay located on a 1991 gmc safari van?

under the hood right of center. above and to the left of the battery.
there is a black plastic box about 6x6 in. it has a pop off cover. on the inside of the cover there should be a diagram showing you which of the 2 relays is the fuel pump relay.

look in the engine compartment, look for the +battery cable, usually red, follow it to a black plastic box. it should be very close to the battery, take the top of the plastic case off, there should be lots of fuses and relays inside.

you have an incomplete circuit on your wires connecting items mentioned, test light trace it, poor contact on connectors.

Replace the FUEL PUMP RELAY. Its located in the under hood relay center. This relay primes the pump with the key on, about 2 seconds, then the pump will not run until the engine has oil pressure, then the fuel pump is energized.

Check and see if the fuel pump relay is stuck.

DO'ES THE VAN TURN OVER ? DO'ES THE VAN HAVE THE FUEL PUMP RUN LONG ENOUGH TO BUILD FUEL PRESSURE?IF YOUR FUEL PUMP AND STARTER ARE WORKING THEN CHECK FOR FIRE TO THE PLUGS. YOU MAY NEED TO GET THE CODES READ TO FIND THE PROBLEM IF YOU HAVE FUEL AND FIRE.ONCE YOU GET THE STORED CODES,REPLACE THE SENDER THAT CAUSED THE CODE OR REPAIR THE WIREING TO IT.

You will need to find a junction box in the engine compartment where some fuses will be located. There should also be some relays in the fuse block. Under the cover should be listing of where relay is located. you can jump a sire across the pins in or to see if fuel pump runs. If it does then the problem is at the relay. If it doen't, problem is at the fuel pump. Problem with that is that the fuel pump is in the tank and the tank will need to be dropped in order to get to it. Good Luck
