How does a 2002 mazda tribute 3.0 fuel rail come off? I need to replace my #5 injector & all that remains is to remove the rail & replace the injector. Everything is disconnected & the rail is loose. I don't see how it comes off when the two injector banks are at different angles. I don't want to force it & possibly harm the injectors. Do you rotate it axially or does it take a special tool at this point? What's the trick?

Sitting for that long is bound to cause issues unfortunately. Clean the Throttle Body and MAF, clean or replace the Idle Air Control. Surging is often caused by air entering the system where is shouldn't and the ECM tries to compensate and causes the surging.

Then take it for a good thrash down the highway for an hour!

1. a leaky fuel injector
2. fuel tank leak
3. a leak in the fuel line / rail
4. faulty or cracked EVAP canister or vapor hoses
5. missing gas cap or one that is loose

what was / is the problem with the rail ?

run fault codes as there is a problem sensor in the system. volts at the injector is suspect as the voltage will vary with the fuel requirement.

To replace the fuel injectors,first the fuel pressure needs to be relieved, then remove engine appearance cover.Then remove air cleaner and air cleaner ducting.Then comes vacuum hoses,remove the hoses and electrical connectors that prevent you from accessing the fuel rail. Disconnect the fuel send and return lines and unplug the electrical connectors for the fuel injectors. -------- You will need socket wrench to relieve fuel pressure and to remove bolts on fuel rail. Complete fuel rail assembly will come out with injectors,then you will have to remove injectors from fuel rail. -------- With new fuel injectors use new O-ring.Don't use old O-ring,use new O-ring. ---------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

there is a tool to test the fuel cap. and the easy way to fix that light is to buy another cup. after you replace the cup if it is a scanner at hand you can reset the ligth or disconect the neg. terminal of the battery for about 3 the 5 minutes. and it will reset by the self

i think its located under vehicle on inside of left frame rail
