What are the symptoms of a faulty transmission? i have 97 saturn sl and i want to keep it running

Saturn, sl 1991.
it has antomatic transmission.
so does it shift funny,????
if not reset the PCM (TCM) and see if the codes return.
if yes, they are real.
the car has this book, called a FSM , it shows every step to take
for each code. the Factory service, manual, if you beg GM , they might help, dont know.
Here in town only the Buick dealer touches Saturns....

i think you counted the flash wrong on 97 ,zero posts world wide. on that is my clue.
what makes you thing those are trans codes>? (shoe drops)

The cold start valve needs to be replaced. It is not letting the engine warm up properly.

Go to www.ask.com you will be surprised at the information you can get through that web site just type in the parts inside a 97 saturn automatic transmission where it says ask your question!

Look for the transaxle model number stamped on the bell housing, and then compare the two. Most likely it is the same transaxle.

check the owners manuel, it will tell you what kind of oil to use, if no manuel call any dealer to get correct oil

IF STARTER FUSE AND RELAY OKAY.REPLACE THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE COULD HAVE BAD GROUND AT CABLE.IF CABLE GOOD. I AM LOOKING AT FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH OR FAULTY TRANSMISSION SAFETY NEUTRAL SWITCH.

Did you check the alternator? if it is faulty the car will drain all the power from the battery until it goes flat

It may be that the seat or the margin on the valve was cut wrong.....

well sounds like maybe the shift rail is bent, this will require the transmission to be removed and repaired, u will need a professional to check this for, the trans is a very expensive repair, so guessing is not a good idea, it can be some other problem, we are really just giving general info from here, hard to diagnose a problem we can't see 1st hand..

my sc1 97 saturn dont work on reverse when is hot
