My 2005 Avalanche radio and dashboard area lights are acting up. The radio you can barely hear and the lights on the left side of the temperature adjustment is out and the #4 on the fan knob doesn't work. HELP!

Bad ground connection possibly . G - 203 ! Both radio an instrument cluster share ground 203 .
G203 In the I/P harness below the left side of the I/P near the A-pillar . Check to see if clean an tight connection .
there may be a wire or two not completely seated in the plugs OR there might be wire that is bare and touching another wire.
Pull the plugs sapart and verify each wire on each side of the plugs ther are no loose or bare wires in the plug block.
If the radio was on when you jump started car you may have overloaded display, and the radio as a whole may have suffered. You may need to replace the radio. Sorry can't be more help.

You need to remove the carpet on the passengers side and check the wireing harness,take off the tape and visually inspect it.You are likely to find broken splices ,bare wires or wires shorted to each other or to ground.
I had to replace the Comfort Control module last year. This is the unit with the 3 dials (etc) on it just below the radio. GM wanted $410 in Toronto so I bought one at a scrapyard for $160 out of a 2005 RVS. I was told by GM dealer that some fancy PCB was inside the module that would eventually cause the entire instrument panel not to light. It solved my problem.
