The thermostat housing is on the front right side of the engine (passenger side) - you have to remove the lower radiator hose to access it... it is at lower right side (front) of engine.

I cannot find the thermostat on my Dad's quad cab pickup with the 3.9 engine. What do I need to look under to find it?

There should be a large radiator hose coming from the top of the radiator. That hose should take you to the thermostat housing.

I have a 2000 dodge dakota sport. 4.7 v8 auto 4x4 and it has been overheating. i flushed radiator. still overheats. i have been told 2 diff locations of the thermostat so i just need to know where it is...

1. Is fan turning when engine runs?
2. Is belt in place to turn the water pump?
If so, sounds like most likely a thermostat problem, thermostat is normally located at the end of the hose that runs from the radiator to the top of the engine, or more appropriately, the water pump.
