Jeep Grand Cherokee Transmission Problems Wont shift

Ive got a 96 jeep grand cherokee, with the 5.2l v8 4x4, and the transmission seems to be going. In the warm days of summer it works fine, but now that it is colder, it takes about 5 miles til it shifts into 3rd gear. It only does this when its colder than 35 degrees in the morning? Do i need to replace the entire quad track transmission, or can i rebuild it. I can very mechanically inclined, and have worked on trannys before. Just wondering if it is possible to do it, or if its gone too far out the door. Thanks

Tried changing the fluid? Often gummy deposits get gummier when cold and take a while to free up with temp increase. Of course, if you are good at it, you can rebuild it but I'd try that first. Generally I use lucas conditioner with B&M or Amsoil synthetic fluid in mine...seems to do the job.

To be honest with you Jeeps are notoriuse for their transmission problems. Most likely you have a shift solonoid in the transmission bad. I would have it checked before it gets worse to try and prevent internal problems.

Good Luck and I hope this helps you.

Jeep wont shift right

No, it is for the speedometer only. The cable that runs to the throttle from the transmission needs adjusted.
