Its not silly.180f degrees is not hot enough, The engine needs to run at 195f, plus the heater isnt going to work very good either. If you want the light out, replace the thermostat. I would advise you to find a repair shop to do it for you. Its not easy.

Ok replace the thermostat which is stucked open, cuz the computer will not go into open loop unless the engine reaches normal operating temperature. You can disconnect the battery, to reset it, but untill you replace the thermostat, the check engine light will pop up again. Good luck

2003 temp. gage goes compelety to right , but engine doesnt get hot ?

It's very possible that the gauge itself is bad, it is common for the stepper motor that drives the gauge to go bad.

What is best running temp for 2003 envoy

The engine operating temperature should be between 200 to 210 degrees, if it is running below that, the engine will not perform at its peak and the check engine light might be set.

My service engine soon light came on the instrument panel on my 2004 GMC ENVOY

You need to go to a auto parts store like Autozone, they will read the fault codes for free and provide you with a printout of the reason for the check engine light being on.

I have GMC envoy 2003 and the problem is the service engine soon light all the time and I recently changed the camshaft sensor and the lamp still there

What code is popping up fo the service engine light? If you don't have a reader, take it to an Autozone or a place that will read this light for free. Let us know what the code is to help further, as without this, it could be many different things.

2003 GMC Envoy - Idles rough when stopped (in gear), already changed engine mounts and cleaned throttle plate. There is a smell of anti-freeze coolant and the Check Engine Soon light comes on and the...

Engine temp too low is usually the thermostat, was this replaced too? If not, replace it. Might check out the fan clutch and the engine coolant temperature sensor.

As far as the vibration, have you taken a look at your tranny mounts? Usually vibrating in gear while stopped is the engine mounts, but I've seen the tranny mounts cause this too.

Also, check out the upstream 02 sensor and make sure it's operating correctly. Have you changed your fuel filter?

Also, just making sure.....You did have the battery disconnected while cleaning the throttle body right? If not, just unhook it again for a minimum of 30 minutes. After that drive around for 20 minutes to reset the computer.

While several mechanics couldn't find anything by using their computers, some of these will not throw codes if they are just about ready to fail.

Anyway, some things to double check here. Hope at least some of this helps, because it sounds like you're doing the right things.

What is the check gauges light

CHECK GAGES light (1) indicates a potential engine failure(low oil pressure, low coolant, coolant overheating) has occurred.
· Check gages and shut down engine. Gages should read as follows: Oil pressure 5 to 10 psi (34 to 69 kPa) at idle; Water Temp gage below 230 degrees (110 C).
· Check engine oil level (Para 2-11) if OIL PRESS gage indicates low reading. Check coolant level (Para 2-11) if Water Temp gage indicates high reading. Notify Unit Maintenance if levels are low.

If CHECK ENGINE light (2) is on, check engine oil pressure gage (3) and water temperature gage (4). If both indicate normal, proceed with mission and then notify Unit Maintenance. If either one does not indicate normal, stop engine immediately and notify Unit Maintenance

The check engine light came on it seems to run fine the only other thing i noticed is the temp gauge runs up to 210 then comes back down,it only does that right after you start it then its fine

Check engine light can be any number of reasons, dirty air filter, need oil change, or more serious engine trouble. The temp gage issue is normal, this is the computer resetting itself. My car the fuel gage and temp gage do this...don't be alarmed. Take it to Advance Auto Parts and they can run a free engine diagnostics test on it to see which error code is tripping your check engine light.

Heat not working and service engine light on

Many times no heat is the result of low coolant which means there isn't enough to properly flow through the heat core. Check the coolant level. If you're running hot it could also be from low coolant. If the coolant level is normal you may very well have a stuck thermostat. If you do have low coolant the next step is to find the reason why it's low.

Did you pull the codes yet?
