1994 Saturn SL2 Key stuck in ignition cylinder

I have a 1994 Saturn SL2. I replaced my ignition lock last month because the key would not turn and start the car at times. However, I parked the car this week and the key is stuck. I can't get it into the acc. position to remove the cylinder again. I have made sure my automatic transmission is in park and the button out. I don't know what to to do to remove the cylinder since it won't budge. Any ideas?

Put some pressure on the steering wheel in one direction or the other this may take the pressure off the cylinder itself and allow you to do what is needed...hope this works.

My car keys are stuck in the ignition system. (1994 Saturn). Can't turn it in or pull it out. Any ideas?

search on youtube for "saturn lock cylinder replacement". if you think you can do it, buy a generic lock cylinder at advance or autozone and give it a shot. if it works your ignition keys will not match your door and trunk keys but a dealer will charge you more than the value of the car to put in a new saturn lock cylinder.

Unfortunately this model of saturn is known for this problem. Try tapping the head of the key lightly with a small hammer and then while shaking the wheel back and forth try to turn the key. The only known permanent fix is key cylinder repalacement.

I have to replace an ignition switch for a 2000 saturn sl2 not sure of laction of switch

You put the key into the lock cylinder, the lock cylinder is directly attached to the ignition switch. Both are inside the plastic boot around steering column.

You should try re-learning the pass-lock system first. Turn the key to the on position and leave it on for 10 min, or until the security light goes out. Turn the key off for at least 30 sec. Turn the key back on, very important not to turn too far and bump the starter, for another 10 minute cycle. Do this 3 times for a total of 30 min. After the 3rd cycle it should start.
