The fan shroud needs to be removed. I think there is a clip where you can seperate the bottom portion of the fan shroud to the top. Once the shroud has been removed everything is a piece of cake.

I am trying to remove the bolt for the fan clutch assembly on a 97 chevy blazer.

  1. 1 Remove the fan and clutch assembly from the fan's pulley. The assembly attaches to the pulley with several bolts on the circumference of the pulley. To remove the bolts, position an open-end wrench over each bolt and turn each bolt in a counterclockwise direction while grasping one of the fan's blades to prevent the fan from turning with the bolt.
  2. Step 2 Pull the fan and clutch assembly away from the engine, then lift the assembly out of the engine's compartment.
  3. Step 3 Remove the bolts which hold the fan to the clutch. The bolts are located on the back of the fan, and can be removed with a open-end wrench.
  4. Step 4 Place the fan and clutch assembly on a flat surface with the clutch facing up, then pull the clutch straight up to disengage it from the fan.

I just installed a clutch fan into my 2004 dodge durango and now the suv runs so heavy. I mean the suv runs loud. Is this normal?

Not sure what you mean by "heavy" and "loud"..

The fan might be "louder" because it may have been allot more quiet with the old failing fan clutch and not spinning fast enough.. Thus the new one working correctly making the fan spin much faster and being "louder"..
If that makes sense - to you question..

BAD BEARINGS ON AC CLUTCH ON A 2000 DODGE DURANGO

Buy a whole new clutch for about $200. You need a special puller to remove the old one if you intend to refurbish it. It's not worth the effort. Just remove the clips and knock the old one off with a hammer. Chuck it away and replace with a brand new clutch assembly.

My 2001 dodge durango is overheating an leaking coolant from a round plug type thing in the corner on the passenger side near the windshield

What exactly is the "round plug type thing" near the firewall [passenger side]? Is it a sensor of some type? I, too, have a coolant leak here on my 2001 Durango; its tucked in rather tightly near the hood/firewall corner. My electric fan is not kicking on; vehicle overheated tonight. (4.7 liter)

Water pump replacement

Get a wrench that fits on the fan clutch. Most auto part stores will have a fan clutch removal tool.

It works the best if you put the wrench onto the fan clutch and then hit it with a hammer in the dirction to take the clutch off. Sometimes it might take multiple tries to break the clutch loose.
