What are sensor codes P1647 & P1111 engine management light on. the RAC engineers diagnostic equipment indicated the above codes for the fault but read 'no text for this code' the engine seems to be running perfectly.

    thank you.
P1647 description is too technical for me.

P1647 is linear o2 sensor control chip bank 2 p1111 is intake air temp sensor

Testimonial: "thank you for an incredibly quick response that I can understand.Superb."

  • Anonymous Nov 11, 2009

A o2 sensor moniters the burnt fuel coming out of engine and adjusts fuel mixture wether it being too rich(too much fuel) too lean(not enough fuel) you usually have 2 banks meaning #1 bank might for 1 2 3 cyls bank 2 for 4 5 6 cyls these o2 sensors are before the cat convertor and then you have 1 more o2 sensor after.depending on years.yours is on bank 2 if you are doing it your self i would just replace it clear codes and see whats happends if it doesnt you should take to dealer or repair shop. you could have vac leak bad ground bad computer etc etc i hope this helps you out

What does an engine indicator lamp means?

The check engine light could indicate many different faults! The only way to be sure is to get the fault codes read! This will indicate where the fault is! If you do not have a code reader then take it to a garage to have this done!

X TYPE 3.0 JAG. I HAVE A FAULT CODE P1647 AND ENGINE LIGHT ON DASH BOARD IS ON. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I TAKE NO NOTICE OF THIS AS THE CAR IS FINE ?

That P1647 fault code is for the upstream oxygen sensor on bank 2. This is the top sensor on the front exhaust cat converter. The usual failure is the sensor itself but you should inspect the harness that runs under and clipped to the battery tray. It is the sensor with the gray connector
Driveability will not be effected at the present, but it should be corrected in a timely manner to prevent damge to other componets, such as the catalytic converter.

Good luck, i hope this helps & thanks for using FixYa!

Hi have a jaguae x type with fault code p1647 changed the sensor with the grey plug and light has *** bk on can u please help

Fault Code:- P1647 Indicates a Power-train fault

The fault is generally due to a problem in the Computer & Output Circuit area

Fault Description: ECM HO2 Sensor control malfunction -bank 2 upstream (2/1)

Action of ECM:- ECM Default:- HO2S 2/1 control circuit inhibited

After clearing the DTC, complete the Drive vehicle for 10 minutes
Check for a reoccurrence of fault DTC.

Possible Fault:- HO2 Sensor 2/1 heater failure HO2 Sensor 2/1 sensing circuit: short circuit to ground, short circuit to high voltage, open circuit ECM Failure

I would like to know what the following codes represent for my 2002 jaguar x-type 3.0 Codes are P174, P175, P1111

P1110 Intake Air Temperature Sensor Signal (Dynamic Chamber) Circuit
The other DTC refer to mixture issues.

From http://www.bluejag.co.uk

Fault Code:- P0174 Indicates a Power-train fault
The fault is generally due to a problem in the Emission Management (Fuel or Air) area
Fault Description: Bank 2 combustion too lean
Action of ECM:- ECM Default: - Bank 2 catalyst warm-up ignition ****** inhibited - Bank 2 closed loop fuel metering inhibited - Canister purge inhibited - Maximum engine speed reduced
Possible Fault:-
Engine misfire Air intake leak between MAF Sensor and throttle Fuel filter / system restriction Fuel injector restriction Low fuel pump output HO2 Sensor(s) (2/1, 2/2) harness wiring condition fault Exhaust leak (before catalyst) ECM receiving incorrect signal from one or more of the following components: ECT Sensor, MAF Sensor, IAT Sensor, TP Sensor

once again from http://www.bluejag.co.uk

Fault Code:- P0175 Indicates a Power-train fault
The fault is generally due to a problem in the Emission Management (Fuel or Air) area
Fault Description: Bank 2 combustion too rich

Action of ECM:- ECM Default: - Bank 2 catalyst warm-up ignition ****** inhibited - Bank 2 closed loop fuel metering inhibited - Canister purge inhibited - Maximum engine speed reduced

After clearing the DTC, complete the Start engine and bring to normal operating temperature > 82 °C (180 °F) Idle for 10 minutes

Check for a reoccurrence of fault DTC.

Possible Fault:- Restricted air filter Leaking fuel injector(s) ECM receiving incorrect signal from one or more of the following components: ECT Sensor, MAF Sensor, IAT Sensor, TP Sensor

X type fault codes p1111 & p1646 can you shed any light on them for me please ?

P1111 - System Pass
This is flagged after DTCs have been cleared, all engine management OBD diagnostic monitor drive cycles HAVE BEEN COMPLETED.

P1646 - Linear O2 Sensor Control Chip (Bank 1)
Its listed as either a faulty heated HO2 sensor ie lambda sensor (upstream bank 1) or a short (presuming the ECM is OK as no other codes)
Did you replace the right one... bank 1 is at the back of the V6, bank 2 is at the front so its the back one.

Hope this helps (remember to rate tis answer).

What is P1111 AND P1647 on jaguar x-type

Hello! Code P1111 is pointing at a defective air temperature sensor.

Jaguar does not have a code P1647. However if the code was in the P164x area it is an effect not a cause; The air temp. sensor controls fuel flow by sensing a differential in temperature; This device is called a MAP. A small black component with two mounting bolt holes with an electrical connector. It cost around $80 if purchased at an auto parts store. Follow back from your air filter towards the intake (need to remove plastic engine cover) to locate the MAP.

If you need any additional information Please include it when you rate this solution.

Ihave detected an error code P1647 and P1111 on my jaguar x type. What does they mean or what could be the problem?

Code P1347 can be set for either a short to ground, short to power, high resistance or open circuit on Oxygen Sensor for bank 2, (HO2S21). Bank 2 is on your right when standing at the front of the engine facing the crank, and this sensor is the first in line; before the converters.
Code p1111
- Intake Air temperature (IAI) intermittent high voltage-low temperature condition.
Probable Cause:
1. Open circuit to IAI-Check connector
2. Failed IAI
3. Open Circuit Condition

Hope this helps

Faulty sensors in my hyundai accent.

Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on.
You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE and perhaps eventually fix the problem.
