I have 2000 pontiac bonneville, with the 3.8l. It won't start, and has a misfire when cranking over. I pulled codes with a scanner, and it said that it was a crankshaft position sensor, I replaced it and checked the wires and harness to no avail, also changed camshaft position sensor same result. So I got out my timing light and used it to discover that the #2 and 5 coil pack was not sending spark, so I replaced it, but it still won't spark. Any suggestions.
Thanks,
Brady

Check power and grounds and control for ignition module
Under the coil pack, there is an ignition module.
Have a look to this link.

Make sure you're using the recommended spark plugs. When my car did that, I had put Bosch Platinum Plus-4 plugs in and got that same problem. Turns out the plugs are too hot and cause it to fire prematurely and kick the misfire code.

it sounds like you need to re time the motor .the belt must of sliped.

crank shaft sen. is easy enough to change.its mounted near timing chain cover, cam sen.is somewhat harder, its in the distributor,id doubt that both are defect

Look for broke/ shorted wires on Crank sensor.. thanks
