My 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo (4.0engine 6cylinders) has a knock in the engine, it cuts off while I'm driving (but will start right back up-usually), I have zero oil pressure on the gauge (had the oil switch? replace), put on a new ignition coil, and distributor. What seems to be my problem?
Low or no oil pressure bad-- knock can be damage from no oil rod knock, wrist pin, piston or spun bearing-or oil pump damaged in oil pan
If you have zero oil pressure thats a BAD sign, first have a mechanic check what the engines actual oil pressures are.

Oh No..."BAD" like my engine might lock up huh? Thank you! I will do just that :(
Thanx hohox5! Someone told me that I may need an oil pump and the knock sounded like a wrist pin knock. Another mechanic said there was some slight damage at the bottom of the motor. He didn't say it was bad enough to wear I'll need a new one tho... I'm going to purchase the oil pump and pray for the best!
Also, it drives better if I'm going between 50-60. Anything below that and it's cuts off or stalls.
