My Honda Element 2008 has a VSA Warning light and

My Honda Element 2008 EX has a VSA Warning light and check engine light on. If I accelerate in low gear the car will ''buck'' but will not stall. I must accelerate slowly in order to avoid this. No problem braking. The VSA switch on the dashboard is non functional.

Having the same problem, I think it's VSA sensor, car drivers fine until you get to about 3000 RPM, then it starts to buck.

Honda had a repetitive problem with the ABS modulator on their vehicles around 2008. This creates the VSA warning light and ABS light to activate and causes the exact problem you are talking about. I have a 2008 Honda CRV that does the same thing. The problem is, Honda wants over $1,200 for the part - when it should be a recall! I only paid $4,000 for my 2008 Honda CRV, so putting over $1,200 into the replacement of one simple part (not an engine nor transmission) seems absolutely ludicrous, particularly when it is obvious this part is of poor design and quality, thus the numerous instances of its failure.

It may be as simple as your oil condition or oil level. If you have poor oil in your engine the VTEC system will not operate properly and when RPMs reach 2800 or so it will buck. If everything checks okay with the oil have the code checked for your check engine light/VSA light.

Honda has a recall for some 410,000 vehicle due to a defect with the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) module. According to the automaker, 344,00 Odysseys and 68,000 Elements 2007-2008 are affected by the problem

Have a 2008 Honda Accord that has the ABS/Vsa/and Brake light on want to know what the issue is

Auto parts stores where I live will check the codes for free.
You can order code readers to check the codes for under 40 dollar, well that is what mine cost.
In the post below one guy disconnected the neg cable from the battery and the code cleared and did not come back.

What's a clunk followed by warning lights for VTM4, VSA, and check engine mean, followed by the vehicle accelerating very slowly and not seeming to shift out of first gear.

your vehicle went into limp mode to protect it self --when you turned it off what ever the clunk was reset itself and your check engine light is still storing the code ===your code should tell you what happened

Abs /vsa light on

A direct-sensing type Tire pressure warning system is used in TPMS
If the vehicle continues to be driven with 1 or more of the 4 inflated to a low air pressure that could cause problems during driving, this system will illuminate the tire pressure warning light to inform the driver of the low air pressure.
In addition to that, this system directly senses the air pressure of each Tire through Tire pressure warning system valve & transmitter that are attached to each wheel.
Before you could proceed you are required to please retrieve the error codes and freeze frame data to get to know about the problem.

2008 Honda Ridgeline VSA warning light

I have a 2014 Ridgeline SE with 8,900 miles.
Says low brake oil but it's full, and VSA is messed up.
I say it's a VSA computer program problem.

My 2005 Odessay Touring van has a VSA light that has gone on about ten times today. Each time I have to turn off the ignition and turn it back on in order to make it go official. However only once did the...

Thanks for the info... that fixed the problem with the VSA light going on. The error code had nothing to do with the VSA system. Error code said I was low on oil. The dealer I brought it to said the VSA system will not work when you are low on oil. When the VSA warning light comes on, you loose 80% of your engine power because of it. They changed the oil and I have not had the VSA warning light go on since.

I can’t be much help on this one (too new for my experience), but your manual will say this (which probably isn’t all that helpful either).
The vehicle stability assist (VSA) system helps to stabilize the vehicle during cornering if the vehicle turns more or less than desired. It also assists you in maintaining traction while accelerating on loose or slippery road surfaces. It does this by regulating the engine’s output and by selectively applying the brakes.
When VSA activates, you may notice that the engine does not respond to the accelerator in the same way it does at other times. There may also be some noise from the VSA hydraulic system. You will also see the VSA activation indicator blink.
The VSA system cannot enhance the vehicle’s driving stability in all situations and does not control your vehicle’s entire braking system. It is still your responsibility to drive and corner at reasonable speeds and to leave a sufficient margin of safety.
On touring models you will also see a ‘‘CHECK VSA SYSTEM’’ message on the multiinformation display if there is a problem with the VSA system.
Without VSA, your vehicle still has normal braking and cornering ability, but it does not have VSA traction and stability enhancement.
The VSA system automatically turns on every time you start the engine, even if you turned it off the last time you drove the vehicle.
I’d get on the Honda people about the problem, especially since you just got the car. I would think that the alarming sounds you are hearing have to do with the unit working the brakes when it shouldn't be, but that's a guess.
Hope this helps some.

2007 honda odyssey warning light

That isn't the light for low tire pressure. Low tire pressure will have what looks like a tire- flat. It is your VSA someone probably hit the button and accidentally. look to the left of your steering wheel there is a button that says VSA push it and see if it turns it off. I notice that this post is pretty old, so you may already have gotten the answer from your dealer, but I'm posting in case someone has the same problem later on.
