Change oil light came on, car had oil change 1000 miles ago, checked levels all good. a few days later check guage light comes on, wife takes to regular shop. Down 2 quarts oil. When that happened oil pressure dropped to bottom. 2 quarts oil in runs fine then check gauge light on again pressure down again. check oil level and it looks fine? @002 Trailblazer has 220,000 miles on it. regular maintenance runs like a champ. Ideas?
Now I have driven the vehicle to see what is happening. First 15-20 minutes of driving typical stop and go, all is good. After the 15-20 minutes at idle/ stop light, the pressure seems to drop damn near to the bottom, check gauges light comes on. If you change to neutral rev to 1000 rpm it seems fine again. So it happens after it is driven/warmed up and only at idle. More thoughts? Now I have driven the vehicle to see what is happening. Suzuki should have stayed with just motorcycles. Anyway, You just had the oil changed. Check and see if they changed the filter also. They may have forgot or were just to lazy. Just a chance the oil filter is bad, I would replace it again(is the oil clean on the dipstick?). Add a higher viscosity oil. At 67,000 miles, you would have to drive dirt roads all the time, with no air filter to get sludge to clog the head ports. Which is slow drain of oil to the pan. The oil pump? well it could be, most likely not. I would say the oil sending unit is bad, but the knocking noise kind of throws that off. Knocking is bad, if it happens again, pull off and shut the engine down. One other thing to watch is the temperature gauge. getting really hot will cause knocking. Check coolant level and the thermostat.
You need to check the oil pressure. You need a analogue oil pressure guage to fit in the hole where the sensor is on the engine. It may need an adapter to make one fit. This will give you a correct oil pressure reading. Did you change the oil filter when you changed the oil?
Your oil light indicates a low level of oil in the engine.
Check the level and fill it.
Running the car with low oil can destroy the engine.
Take it back to where you had the oil changed and tell them. then plug oil pug may not be seated or the filter may not be seated.
it sounds like your oil pump is not working good. check oil pressure at cold and what weight oil are you using. it may be too heavy for it to get up to the top of the motor quick.if there was any build up in the head when you changed the lifters you may want to flush the oil system good then put fresh oil back in
Check oil level. Make sure you're using the right weight oil. If those are good, you've either got a bad oil pressure sensor or pressure problems with the pump or worn engine bearings. Could be a sitcking pressure relief valve in the pump. But also could be a worn engine
CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL SOUND LIKE LOW OIL LEVEL.CHANGE OIL IF IT HAS BEEN OVER 3000 MILES OR OIL LOOKS DIRTY CHANGE IT.IF OIL CHANGE DONT HELP HAVE OIL PRESSURE CHECK TO SEE IF OIL PUMP GOING BAD OR YOU HAVE A FAULTY OIL PRESSURE GAUGE.
The code system too lean, is caused by the bank 1 02 sensor, as far as the oil light coming on with oil ok,I would say the oil sending unit. Have those checked or replaced. Without testing this and that, it's hard to say what's causing it.
Look for Castrol TWS 10W60 Motor Oil. This car should not burn so much oil, you need to use a different kind. It is recommended by BMW as well. I also heard the VANOS isnt an issue anymore, can be fixed with a different MAFF. Good luck!
