Ford explorer 4.0 1991 high revs

not told hot or cold engine
the controls for idle are not the same , those 2 modes.
how high is high RPM,.
hot is 800 RPM regulated by PCM + isc idle valve.
cold is controlled by IAC,thermal air control valve.
and runs about 1200 to 2000 rpm,cold
cold in Florida is 1200 cold in ALASKA is 2000.
if the thermostat is bad, stuck open, and 150f coolant temp the RPM will be stuck high all the time
as will huge vacuum air leaks, the MAP sensor sees that and engine screams.
pully connectors is useless as doing so puts he PCM in limp home mode and idle controls are disabled in that mode. limp
there are lots more tests, to do. but my fingers are tired.
get shop to fix it?

Have an issue with 2010 Audi A4 (170) where the engine revs are fluctuating when it is idling. No issues noted while driving with engine over 1400 Rpm. any ideas ?

You can take it to most auto parts stores such as O'Reilly's or AutoZone and they will scan for diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) that may be set in the computer.

Rpm's fluctuate at idle

The oil pressure quage is moving around because the engine is slowing down and speeding up. As far as the idle surging goes try this.

2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 6.0 idles too fast.

May be a cooling sensor issue . If you can hook a scan tool to it and watch the coolant temp pid while idling high it may show a fluctuating reading .

Idle Rpm Too High.

A high idle is caused by either a massive vacuum leak or a sticking idle speed control valve. I would think you have a vacuum leak, use a can of carb spray and shot around the top[ of the engine, if you hit a leak the engine will sound different, repair as needed.

Should the oil pressure gauge fluctuate with speed

The oil pressure guage will fluctuate with engine RPM. At idle it should be approximately 20 lbs./sq.in, at high revs about 50-60 lbs./sq.in. Hope this helps any concerns you may have. Good luck!

Engine rpm fluctuate when a/c is on/this problem has been for a while now some tech had played whit the adjustment screw and had the engine idle high 1200 rpm to counter act the fluctuation / now back to...

I am not familiar with this engine. But, if the alternator, PAS and AC are being driven by the same belt, then its possible that the belt is too slack, have you checked the belt tension ? That would be my first step. Hope that helps

Honda Accord 1991 idles high then low

)The fact that thge engine idle fluctuates when it is cold indicates that the Fast Idle THermo Valve is out of adjustment.
This valve is located ot the front of the intake manifold on the driver's side just below the accelerator cable. To adjust it, wait until the engine is cold (best to do it first thing in the morning).
Remove the two screws holding the cover on and start the engine. There is a brass needle sticking up through a plastic ring that has two slots in it. With the engine idle fluctuating, use a thin flat blade screwdriver to SLOWLY turn the ring CLOCKWISE
until the idle stabilizes. Once done. put the cover back on withg the two screws and you should be done.
