07Saturn Ion having trouble starting & lingering gas smell.

I have a 2007 Saturn Ion and recently I've noticed that it's taking longer for the car to start. It always ends up starting but after the car sits especially overnight it takes a longer to start. Also I've noticed that there seems to be the smell of gas lingering around the car. It doesn't seem to be leaking gas but you can smell it after the car has been running.

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

The gas smell is from all the gas into the clylinders when it dont start,,,normal,,,,,,the no start issue is from the electrical ignition switch goes bad when it gets cold out and doesnt let the car start,,you need a new ignition switch like $40 and reprogram it to the car,i would take it to the dealer, asap because right now you are lucky that it does eventually start, one day it will not start at all so get this fixed before you get stuck

Transmission 2007 Ion automatic transmission. Where do i check the level?

If the check engine light is on instead of won't to check the transmission fluid , have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . More then likely TCC clutch solenoid problem . Take it an have it check .

I have A 2007 Saturn Ion--The #4 cylinder is showing miss-fire & low pressure--could this be false reading--I'm getting same gas mileage & runs fine

A misfire could be a sign of a problem coming up. You might not notice anything major until the cylinder stops working all together. However, other that it sounding terrible, and a loss of power and some shaking effects, it's not terrible.
In other words, if it happens, it's time to get it to a shop now, instead of later.
Yet, it all depends on why it's misfiring. If there is coolant leaking into the engine cylinder, it's a much larger problem. I would suggest taking it to another shop for a second opinion. Sometimes it's just a simple fix.

My saturn ion is having trouble starting and just stalled out on me yesterday. I was wantdering if there was a recall on something about that. I thought i herad there was.

Depending on where you live, there is fuel line/pump/filter issues with these cars. Do you smell gas when you shouldn't? You should get the computer read to see if there are any issues. Is the check engine light on?

Smells like gasoline

Hi,
Sounds like you have a leak somewhere.
Could either be on one of the fuel lines / unions or on the tank.
The fact that you had just filled it up makes me think that it is probably on the tank or filler line.
Have a good look around in these areas to see if you can locate where it is coming from and take it from there.
Hope this helps.

2007 Saturn Ion Check Engine Light Gas Cap Problem

Best to rent a scanner and check for other problems. If ok, the scanner will clear the light. If you bought a vented cap, the trouble will remain until a sealed cap is installed.
