Cruise control on 98 chevy venture stops working

Most of the time the cruise works fine, but on occasion it will just seem to shut off and won't come back on until the van has been shut off for some time.

Thanks for the tip Chucky, but my particular control unit has no vacuum running into it.

I'll check this, but I kind of doubt it because once it decides to shut down it won't come back on until the van has shut down enough to cool off.

Wow! Thanks Leslake! I was just thinking it would be nice to know what pins should be 'hot' when the unit is turned on so that I could test them when it wasn't working. Most helpful!!! Thanks again!

The Venture uses an electronic Cruise Control and doesnt require vacume. I would suspect the cruise module under the hood, or the lever on the steering colum to be bad.

Testimonial: "You're right on the no vacuum part. I kind of suspected the unit under the hood myself, but was hoping there might be a cheaper fix. :-) Thanks 4 info"

Might check the signals to the unit itself.....

Also check your switch on the break pedal bracket that might be loose. It is a swich same like a switch for break lights.

Can the emission control sensor cause the cruise control to stop working?

An emission control sensor cannot cause the cruise control from working. They are two separate systems.

However, if the engine rides rough or bucks, then it will be difficult for the cruise control to regulate speed on the highway.

The cruise control of my chevy venture 2001, does not work

Check the servo motor for a cracked vacuum line. This is the motor that pulles the throttle when you activate the cc.Also make sure that your brake light switch is not stuck on or out of adjustment.the switch turnes off your cc when you hit the brakes. there might be a seperate switch for the cc or even a vacuum dump switch.

Venture acceleration

Cruise control has nothing to do with it, your pick-up is malfunctioning, it is located below the distributor or the coil pack. Replace it ASAP
