1992 Camry v6 XLE: Started engine this morning, massive oil leak ensued. Shut down engine immediately...preparing to dive under the car. Any ideas where to focus? Much concern...other vehicle inoperable. -Bob
Re: 1992 Camry v6 XLE: Started engine this morning,
Is it coming from the driver side, passenger side, front or rear of the engine? It could be a cam or crank seal if it is coming from the passenger side behind the plastic timing cover.

... running rich I have a 1991 Camry that is running rich. I just replaced the O2 sensor and a new cat, oil change, new spark plugs. The car wont pass smog. it is ...
Did you top up the oil? some cars will shut down when the oil light comes on it usualy turns off the fuel pump and is a safey design of the car to stop the engine in a roll over situation and can also save your engine if it runs low on oil.
are you draining all the oil or just whats in the gearbox?
nobody can say how much you will need to the last drop really
but you will need at least 6 pints then check the dip stick and runing the motor,,, keep filling till its a full box
the control is opperated with engine vacumn, check for a hose cracked or come loose in the engine bay, the controller is in the dash, behind the adjustment knob, it may have a hose off or need replacement.
Check the radiator cap for white sludge, if there is some then check the oil dipstick for the same, if on both then 95% sure it is head gasket blown. If there is a little on the rad cap and none on the dip stick then may be low on oil.
There are a few places it could be leaking from, first it could be a cooling line leaking, secound if its got a detent cable it could leak from there, third it could be leaking from dip stick tube, forth oil pan could have a hole in it or gasget is leaking, fith front pump seal or rear seal could be leaking. Everything can be fixed with trans. in car except front seal witch requires trans to come out.
yea i had the same problem, my last mechanic didnt tighten the top where d sprak plugs go in so it was leakin oil all they way down to the bottom where the exhaust runs and was smokin because of that... had it tightned and no longer ne smoke
