1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee ORVIS 5.2 sat for 2 months while I was healing from surgery. Started it and let it warm up (on dash gauge)started to drive and each time I let off the accelerator it stalls and it fires right up again. I want to start looking in the right place, Help

Really need more info,what malfunction switch are ou refering to the check engine light?? If so go to Autozone and the can check to see if it is on due to problem with your Emissions or other mechanical issues.

Sounds like the speedo sensor needs to be replace on the transmission. I've had a similar problem with my Jeep with the sopeedo not working then work after the tranny heats up then after a period of time the needle started to jump when at 100 km or 60 mph. I changed the sensor and the problem went away. Good luck!
The vehicle speed sensor and speedometer are one in the same on this model I believe. If one goes out it takes the other with it if its all electronic and not cable driven.
Be sure that the truck is fully engaged in two wheel drive. It may have slipped out of gear on the transfer-case. Move the lever for 2 and 4 wheel drive back and forth a few times before shifting transmission.Good luck
Fuel delivery is influenced by engine temperature sensor. (sometimes a seperate unit from gauge sensor). Since you did not mention any performance problems after starting or on hot re-starts, that's where I'd look first!
