2004 Saturn VUE; AWD; V6, Auto trans; AC; lights go through usual sequence upon starting; then Check Engine light comes on for 15-20 seconds and then goes out. Any ideas?
Take your Saturn to AutoZone and have them scan the PCM fault code(s). They will also give you a print-out (ask for it)...

There are over 200 system faults that turn the check engine light on, have the systems computer tested, there should be a trouble code present to ID the fault(s)

IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU TOLD US THE ENGINE SIZE;STRAIGHT OR AUTO TRANS,AC ETC. The 3.9 LT V6 engines back then had bad lower distributor/camshaft bushing. IF your car missfires-is hard to start-or tries to run backwards upon shutdown it may be this. Engine will have to be put on analyzer(to show vaariable timing caused by bushing)=easy to Dx and may be covered by warranty .
Disconnect the negitive battery cable for an hour. This should clear it. Also check the oil levels. Its possible they didnt fill them to the proper levels.
SOME TIME PCM GET A VOLTAGE SPIKE.OR ELECTRICAL INTERFERENCE WILL CAUSE SERVICE LIGHT TO COME ON WITH NO CODES.IF IT KEEP HAPPENING TAKE IT TO DEALERSHIP TO CHECK IT OUT.
I am assuming its an orange light, this sometimes happens when the gas tank has been overfilled i.e. up the to the neck. If you are not experiencing any negative affects the light should reset its self after several starts, I dont know how many for your car but its usually about 10.
Disconnect the battery and reconnect.
This should clear the computer memory.
This may cure the problem.
Suspect extreme cold primary cause in transmission?
