No. Your troubles are carburator related. Since you have no way of knowing what "some guy" did inside your carb you will likely have to take it to a shop that specializes in that kind of work. They may be able to adjust it so it works properly but it will probably have to be rebuilt again. Carburators are like a high maintenance girlfriend, very unforgiving if not treated just right. 82 should be mechanical pump,drivers side in front of engine by oil filter,filter is inside fuel line at the carb

1980??? didnt have any sensors ,distributor cap points and carb ,zenith carb as i remember and bosch points and distributor

If you haven't purchased one yet I would look into a heater that installs in the lower radiator hose. much easier, especially if the plug accidentally starts to leak.

There is no reason to retorque the head
