Yep,pretty normal ,the idle air control is either really dirty or bad,I'm thinking just dirty because it works when first started. Just unplug the wire ,take the 2 screws out and clean it with injector cleaner.(round cylinder, about 3 inches long) Also pull the air cleaner tubes and clean the throttle blades as well.
Your first problem is to find out why the intermittent no-power problem. Honestly, that sounds like a loose conmnection somewhere. check all your grounds for clean and tight conditions Also, battery connections and alternator connections. Double check your power distribution center for any loose wires or poor connections. Once you solve that problem, then you can diagnose the other problems with poor idle and temp. gauge.
Have you replaced the fuel filter (located along the fuel line from the tank, just ahead of the rear wheels)? Also, have you made sure that the fuel pump is properly grounded? Does the fuel gauge work? If you have a loose or bad ground on the tank, neither your fuel gauge nor your fuel pump will work properly.
Fuel injection needs 20-30 pound pressure to fire the injectors. Try to check pressure before filter. If its low your pump is no good. If its ok then you have pressure drop after the filter. Filter on backwards or clogged.
sounds like you have a good battery, get the car started put a voltmeter to wire connected to the back of your alternator. if you have at least 13.25 volts you have a good unit if any lower replace the alternator the click sound you are hearing comes from your relay it is getting low voltage from the battery. because the battery has no juice caused by a bad alternator
if car was idleing then it quit, i have seen this before. check to see if fuel pump is bad. the car might have been running with gas allready in fuel line. if pump is ok, check fuel filter.
