SOURCE: BAD HARMONIC BALANCER

To remove the harmonic balancer on my 1992 Pathfinder, I needed to loosen the alternator and power steering belts, remove the cooling fan (4 10 mm nuts), remove the radiator (2 10 mm  bolts hold it to the frame, remove top and bottom hose [The drain **** is covered by what appears to be a coolant line], as well as the overflow tube to the reservoir. With a 3/4" impact gun and a 27 mm socket, remove the bolt that retains the alt, ps shieves and the harmonic balancer to the crankshaft. With a large 3 jaw puller, remove the harmonic balancer with the pully sheives as an assembly. I do not recommend attempting the removal without the puller.
To  put it back on, you will need a large torque wrench for the crankbolt and a small torque wrench for with a crowsfoot for the fan nuts.

SOURCE: Remove the harmonic balancer without a puller?

You can try simply wiggling the balancer and see if you get lucky. A few taps with a rubber mallet may convince it to come free. Worst case get the kit. You should not need to remove the radiator. Do make sure that you have the engine blocked so you don't lose your timing mark placement.

SOURCE: What is the trick to removing the harmonic balancer on a stratus

Theres no trick. It has to be cocked or something from all the pulling. Try tapping it back on, use spraylube on the crank and try again. Good luck.

SOURCE: Mitsubishi Eclipse Harmonic Balancer 3.0L Removal

There is a panel inside the wheel well that you can take off that gives you perfect access to the harmonic balancer. A special tool is required. i had my dad make one because he has access to whatever he needs at the factory. but you can get them at the dealer. i have no clue how much they cost. I can't see any way of doing it without the special tool. after you get the tool its pretty simple to get off. it takes alot of force to break the bolt loose though. i used the handle off my jack as a cheater bar. hope this helps...

You may need an impact gun. If loctite was used, you will need a gun.

How to remove harmonic balancer on 01 alero 3.4 do i have to remove motor mount and drop engine down

Think you already answered your question. Some engines for cars its almost impossible to remove without removing the engine or lowering it to clear the frame. You dont say why it needs to come off. But if you see an easy way to get it removed without pulling the engine out can be helpful. Support the oil pan with a block of wood to spread out the load to avoid dropping the engine when removing motor mounts. Its that or use an engine hoist or cradle and chain to lift it up and lower it

How do you know when a 2003 alero Oldsmobile have jumped timing.

remove a rocker cover for no 1 bank and place the timing mark on the harmonic balancer on the TDC mark. The valves on no 1 piston will both be fully closed or in a rocking position when a bit of movement at the harmonic balancer movers the valves up or down. otherwise it it still goes then the timing is right

How do you replace a harmonic balance on 2003 Oldsmobile Alero

Remove the belt. You remove the nut and washer from the balancer. Then you probably need a puller. Your local auto store should have a puller. You may need to safely raise and support the vehicle, remove passenger side front tire, and splash guard, where applicable, to see if it is easier to get at the balancer. There are safety issues when working under a vehicle, safety is your responsibility.

I have an 2006 dodge stratus.im changeing the front crank seal.do I have to pull the engine out to remove the harmonic balancer?

You should be able to get to the harmonic balancer while it's in the car. Remove right tire( use jack stands to hold the car up- not a jack). remove the inner splash guide and the balancer will be exposed. Using 3 jaw puller to remove harmonic balancer

Where is the crank shaft sensor located on a 2001 oldsmobile alero

on the 3.4 liter engine, it's behind the harmonic balancer--you have to remove the crankshaft pulley/balancer to see it.

if you have the 2.4 liter, it's just above the oil filter:
