I have a 2004 ford ranger edge 3.0L v6 i replaced fuel pump, inertia switch, crankshaft position sensor, and relay, and there is enough preassure when i checked the shrader valve it wont start

Fuel shut off switch may need to be reset. A friend of mine had it trip when he had a flat tire some years ago on ford car. The reset on his was behind the plastic piece to the right of where the video below. Video below shows fuel shut off/inertia switch on upper floorboard passenger side.

You can try swapping out your fuel pump relay to make sure the relay is not bad. Below link may help

Fuel pump relay , maybe . Inertia fuel shut off switch tripped .Does the vehicle have spark ? No signal from the Crankshaft position sensor ,the PCM - engine computer will not energize the fuel pump relay . Video's on youtube ,testing fuel pump electrical circuit from the relay base , where the relay plugs into .

Could be that the Inertia switch has cut it off. Check Websites with the term "2004 mercury marauder inertia switch" then add location to the search if the first search only generates parts.

This is a safety device and is a part which cn be in different locations depending on the year.


In addition to the Inertia switch, a fuel pump relay or a crankshaft sensor can do the same thing.

Check for fire at a sparkplug then check fuel pressure.

Try crankshaft positioner. It needs to accurately report rpm to the ecm to kick up fuel pressure. Check Inertia switch for fuel cutoff and reset.

CHECK FUEL PUMP FUSE AND RELAY.IF BOTH ARE GOOD.CHECK THE FUEL PUMP INERTIA SWITCH MAKE SURE IT HAS NOT TRIPPED OFF. INERTIA SWITCH LOCATION IN THE SPARE TIRE JACK COMPARTMENT.IF ALL LOOK GOOD SCAN CAR FOR PCM FAULT CODE OR CRANKSHAFT SENSOR AND CAMSHAFT SENSOR FAULT CODES.

Are you getting power to the inertia switch? I would check the fuse and relay for the fuel pump.

Check the inertia switch (refer to owners manual for it's location). Also check the fuel pump relay.

I had this same issue. There is an inertia switch located below glove box. Mine went bad. Here is what I wrote to another person with the similar problem:

I have a 2005 Ranger Edge. I had the same problem. I did two things. First I replaced the fuel pump and it worked again for about 2 months. Then it stopped working again so I replaced the inertia switch with a new one from the Ford Dealership. It worked again for about a month. Than it stopped again, so I replaced the wiring that goes from the inertia switch to the main box on the bottom right passenger side. I also put the inertia switch inside the casing on the lower right so it couldn't be kicked. It has been working for 2 weeks now. I hope nothing else happens.

On another note, I had another electrical problem. My speedometer cluster stopped working and my mechanic found loose wires rubbing against metal on the inside. I think the electrical components on these Ford Rangers are just cheaply made. That is the only thing to check for you now. If it isn't the fuel pump or the inertia switch, just check all the wiring from fuel pump to inertia switch to make sure it is all done correctly. Also check all fuses for fuel pump/inertia switches.
