Not sure what made you think this, but if system is still working, try a good fuel system cleaner additive, and check to make sure there isn't another filter in the fuel line. Otherwise, you will need to pull the pump/sending unit.
Check the fuel line from the tank to the injector rail - there may be an inline filter. Sounds like a fuel system problem, but further diagnostics are warranted. I would try a really good fuel system cleaner first, as you may have a lot of water in the gas and/or plugging injectors. Otherwise, you really need a service manual to go any further, as the conditions you are seeing can be caused by many things.
You should first check the full pressure at the engine - if lower than normal or bouncing around, it will probably be either the pump or the fuel regulator. If OK, then you looking for injector or ignition problems.
Testimonial: "I have a check engine light on and I get codes of misfires and system too lean/rich. I was hoping its just the filter but maybe pump too?? Dunno much, what other filter would be on the fuel line?"

I would guess that you have a stretched or loose serpentine belt. Common problem.

yes it is in the tank. but you can remove the rear seat to get to the fuel pump, instead of dropping tank. (2003 to 2005) kia sorento. fuel filter is inside tank and replaced with fuel pump as an assembly.
