Check the data link connector fuse first if good then clean the connectors and also check for loose fitting pins on the scanner and the connector if they are good you must now continuity check those wires for breaks most times its just oxidation on the connector or the contacts need to be crimped a little to make it fit tighter but your fuse might be blown

Where is the diagnostic connector located on the 2002 Tacoma...4WD...6 cyl., DBL cab, limited SR-5.

The port is located under the dash on the drivers side. It is located to the right of the steering column. Should be black and pointing downward.

Tacoma 4x4 not engaging

Do you have all 4 tires matched to each other? If you have 1 worn and 3 new, expect problems. Also, 2 tires on the front from 1 mfgr and 2 on the rear from a different mfgr will cause no 4WD. If all 4 tires match, put it in 4WD and tap on the transfer case and the front shift mechanism on the front axle. One or the other may be stuck, assuming that the 4WD fuse is good. The fuse is in the fusebox under the dash.
