SOURCE: 03 Santa Fe blower motor resistor replacement

the part you need to replace is the blower motor resistor assembly it has a screw on each side of it with a plug in th middle and for the most part it is on the passanger under the dash behind a black cover stop by a auto store and take a look at one and then you know what you are looking for and at the same time you can find out how much its going to cost i am only going to guess it somewhere around $15.00 to 25.00 dollars.

SOURCE: Replacing Blower Motor Resistor

  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  2. Open the glove box.
  3. Flex both sides of the glove box bin inward near the top far enough for the rubber glove box stop bumpers to clear the sides of the glove box opening, then roll the glove box downward.
  4. Reach through the glove box opening to access and disconnect the instrument panel wire harness connector for the blower motor resistor from the resistor connector receptacle (Blower Motor Resistor).
  5. Reach through the glove box opening to access and disconnect the blower motor pigtail wire connector from the resistor connector receptacle.
  6. Remove the two screws that secure the blower motor resistor to the evaporator housing.

SOURCE: Blower motor vent selection switch not working

the hvac selector switch in the dash may be the problem. You need to remove the switch and look at the connector on the back of switch, see if there are any burnt wires at the connector or switch. It's all electronic and the switches have been known to burn out on this and other model.

2003 Dodge Dakota is stuck on defrost, only blowing hot air. A/C will not turn in, mirror defrost will not turn on. Just replaced blower motor resistor to fix fan not coming on. Fan is working.

Can you measure and VOLTAGE across the resistor?

Here is a GREAT Link (in my estimation):

Yes it's for a DURANGO but the process may help you!

The blower motor stays on high all the time. A/C works but will not come out dash vents, comes out defrost and changes to floor when I accelerate. Thanks for your help. Cecil

Your problem with the blower motor only running on high is caused by a defective blower motor resistor pack. Replace the resistor pack. The problem with the vents is not related to the blower motor, and is caused by a problem with the vent controls. I suspect you have a vacuum leak under the dash.

The fan doesn't work for the front defroster/heater.

Using a test light, check for power at the blower motor connector. If thereis power there, replace the blower motor. If there is no power there, it could be the blower motor switch or the blower motor resistor. The most common is the blower motor resistor.

Blower motor resistor & vent intake on 1990 Plymouth Acclaim

Usually passenger side down under are where wipers are mounted. If you turn heater /defrost blower on high & listen standing on passenger side, you should be able to pinpoint it easier. Look below that on firewall and good chance your resistor is in that area.
