At least take the time to remove your computer connector & check & clean all contacts with battery disconnected, negative first.. Clean good with an electrical cleaner spray can. re-connect then re-connect battery, with negative last.

SOURCE: jeep won't start until a clicking sound comes from fuse box

The click you hear is the fuel pump relay. It gets its signal to energize from the PCM.If you have a faulty Crankshaft Position Sensor, the PCM will not work. Check for a bad fuel pump relay and also all of the other sensors: Camshaft Position Sensor, MAP Sensor, Idle air Control, Intake Air Sensor, etc.

SOURCE: 98 chevy cavalier cranks but wont start changed

try to start the car, than the anti theift would shut the car off. you wait ten min with the key on, until you see the anti theift flash or disapear. than turn key to off position and try to start it. this will reprogram the computer.. Good luck.

you can also try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes

I could be the CKP (crank sensor), but it could also be several other factors including the TPS. The correct way to start a diagnosis would be to see if any trouble codes are stored in memory. I'm assuming all basic ignition components are ok ; spark plugs, etc.

I have a 1998 Jeep cherokee sport. Was driving today and it died. Now there is no spark and no power to fuel pump. Changed fuel pump today and it won't run. Recently replaced oxygen sensors too

U need to check the crankshaft position sensor. The fuel pump will only have power for 2 seconds I till it sees a crank signal. It' controls the asd relay which turns on your spark and fuel

My 89 jeep cherokee won't. Start it will turn over

what motor? is the coil producing spark?? If so, check the fuel pressure, if the fuel pressure is low drop the tank, repace the pump and also replace the filter (located on the frame forward of the tank). If the coil is not producing spark, check for shorts or opens in the circuits as well as the IGN fuses. If there is NO fuel pressure at all check the fuel pump fuses and make sure the fuel pump is plugged in and there are no opens in the circuit

98 jeep cherokee wont start it is not getting fuel changed the fuel pump rotor distributor cap spark plugs coil and it still will not get fuel.

i just had the same problem on a 1997 4.0 . crank sensor is most likely bad you can spray starting fluid in the intake tube and car will start meaning you have spark but injectors will have no power I.E. crank sensor is bad 38.00 dollars at local parts store dealer told me 170.00 dollars make sure you push it all the way in when you install it i just posted a fix for this on this site today . after you start the car if it gives a misfire code and check engine light comes on loosen the crank sensor bolt and push it in again then tighten the bolt the cardboard on the sensor for the air gap wares off a little bit enabling you to push the sensor in a little bit more misfire should be gone there is only a few thousands of an inch adjustment for the air gap and it makes a difference. hope this helps

99 Jeep Cherokee Sport, 4.0L -won't start

you need to have it connected to an OBD2 machine and watch if you are missing the cam sensor showing RPMs
or if your missing crank sensors RPMs,
it could be a wiring problem or computer if your seeing the RPMs from both sensors, and the last thing i would check is hooking up a fuel gauge to the reed valve and watch what fuel pressure you have while cranking,if the cam sensor is the culprit it will turn the fuel off after the cranking.

Check the crank position sensor. I had the same problem in a 1989 cherokee 4.0, and the solution was simply to acomodate the sensor wiring. No replace was necesary

1998 Jeep Cherokee - hard to start

My 98 Cherokee was the exact same. I used to have to turn the key back and forth 3 times and then it would start. Otherwise it would just crank and crank for a while and then start. Pretty embarrassing! Took it to the dealer and they said that my fuel pump was losing pressure. I changed the fuel pump and I don't have to prime the pump anymore.

you may have bent the flex plate ring.so it might be to far away from the crank sensor air gap.
