I need more details. Please included the most insignificant information. Has the vehicle been in for repairs recently? Is the engine warning light on while it is running? Are all the gauges working properly? If the engine start even if you start it and shut in down, six times in a row? What is the alternator charging the battery at (should be between 13.5-14.5V)? It sounds like you have a short somewhere. The symptoms do suggest a wire or component getting hot or failing as the engine warms up. That does mean that is what it is but it is a possibility. Start with the easy things first. Check as many wiring harnesses as possible. Look for an oil covered harness that is against a sharp (or not) metal surface. Inspect the battery terminals. Are the connections clean and tight? Look inside the power distribution box and pull relays. Sometimes removing a relay, turning it over and looking for overheating or smelling it for the burning wire smell, can help identify the problem and avoid a future breakdown. Please start hear, write back and let me know how things are going. Any questions please ask away. Good luck.

If the "overdrive off" light is flashing, this indicates an error condition in the transmission ECU.
There is a diagnostics procedure you can follow, but it is a bit too long to go in to here. Try and track down a copy of the Toyota service manual, number RM315E (searching the ih8mud forums is a good start) and follow the procedure in there for reading the fault codes.
It involves bridging the diagnostics connector in the engine bay (facing the front of the vehicle with the bonnet open it is to the right of the engine on the bulkhead) - easy to do...
