You need the "old school" transmission as well.

The transmission needs inputs from the sensors on the engine, like the manifold pressure sensor, throttle position sensor, temperature sensor and others to function correctly .

SOURCE: GMC 1500 Auto, will not shift back into park?

Climb under your pickup and look where the cable connects to the side of the transmission and make sure there is not any mud around the cable or around the shift linkage hookup. If so clean it off and see if it will shift. We have found many of these with mud caked around the shift linkage or a lot of ice buildup and wont allow it to shift into park.

SOURCE: What can cause my 98 olds intrigue to shift

your torque converter maybe to blame here. a simple fluid pressure test will tell you that. if the pressure is good, your valve bod might be due for a change.

SOURCE: transmission will shift, but car won't move.

there is a linkage inside the transmission that came off or lose so you might have to take it to a mechanic to get in there and repair so do not start car no more and you might have to have the car towed to a mechanic to look at it.

SOURCE: Replaced motor in 98 toyota tacoma prerunner 2.7 l put it back together and now it won't shift into gear. Can you help please

Do you have the torque convertor bolted to the flex plate? I hope you made sure the convertor was fully seated on the input shaft before dropping in the engine. After the engine and trans. was bolted together, did you have a gap between the convertor and flex plate, or were they pressed together? If there was no gap, and the conv. and flex pressing against each other and you started the truck, you probably just ate up the trans.oil pump drive tangs and the convertor itself too.

Transmission clogged what can i do?

if you've tried all the usual stuff (power flush etc.) an old school trick is after you've changed the oil and filter in the trans pan, put it all back together. Take the truck in a low speed area (residential) while in drive quickly shift from "D" to "R" then right back again, being careful not to go all the way "P" or you might just do that... LOL .. It sounds drastic but depending on your mileage, this maybe you easiest option.

What would cause my 98 Gmc Suburban to shift hard and the belt squel at same time, but only if i hot rod by takeing off fast (Gas pedal pushed down, rpm **** at 4-5)??

There is an electrical piece that wires into this model's transmission..., I know this from personal experience, same symptoms!! My transmission guy wired mine in two weeks after a rebuild and apologized for not doing it the first time!!! (No charge!!) Check to make sure you have the correct belt. There are two,(two different alternator pulley sizes, one is slightly smaller) ..thus a shorter belt than the other, (personal experience!!!)..this will eliminate belt squeal!!!

Transmission wont shift

I had this same condition with mine while it was under the factory warranty. The dealer replaced the 3-4 shift solenoid in the transmissions valve body. After the repair, the transmission shifted great. Hopefully this helps you. Good luck.

Choke dont work

if too rich adjust choke leaner
if too lean, adjust choke righer.

from 1920 to about 1988 , usa, 70 years we did this.
no more. well we do, but most dont now.
i still have 1 twin carb motor cycle and one single carb VW 1968.
both restored.
also the chock heater must work and the choke spring not old.
the old bi-metal spring that is old become lazy,/crazy. kick it to the curb for best experiences.
if water heated choke the water actually must flow here.
if not, it will fail.
there are 3 common types.
electric, needs 12v.
water, needs 180F hot water actual flow.
and exhaust choke stove heater. (a small horror this, dont ask)
there are others, but would need carb name and p/n
