It appears to be a twist lock with o rings on it you may have to spray it with wd 40 to help loosen and push in while turning it

SOURCE: 2000 Honda Odyssey Fuel Vapour Canister location

It is located at the top of the gas tank. You are going to have to drop the tank in order to check it, so it is best to do this when there is not a lot of gas in the tank. Hope this helps you out.

A qualified repair shop wil need to check these codes and recommend repairs. a scanner and a manual will be needed for diagnosis.

SOURCE: Getting an engine code 1450 on a 2003 ford

Did you check the block box connected to the vent solenoid? There's a hose that comes off it that appears to run nowhere, that's the fresh air vent. If it's blocked it won't allow air into the system which will set the trouble code. If that's clear, the vent solenoid itself is bad and needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: relpaced selinoid purge valve and

It may not go away immediatly since it may have to go through a certain preset cycles to clear-the fastest way to determine if it is cleared is to remove the negative terminal from the battery, and wait 5 minutes before hooking it back up.

As a side note, I'm sure you checked your gas cap, right? It is often overlooked for a fuel system vapor leak..

P0496 Code evaporative emission system

Compliance with emission regulations means vapours from the engine crankcase and fuel tank can no longer be vented to the atmosphere as in the old days so excess fuel vapours from the tank are collected in a canister filled with carbon and then released into the engine air intake when the engine management programme decides is the optimum conditions for doing so.

The venting or purging operation is controlled by the ECU operating an electrical or solenoid valve and on some vehicles this can be heard pulsing when the engine is hot and idling.

Most problems with the system are caused by faulty wiring, connectors, the valve itself or the ECU. If the system is sophisticated the ECU might expect to record a slightly richer air/fuel mixture during venting and so if there is problems with the pipework or canister enrichment might not happen and be recorded as a fault.

2000 Ford Expedition My Expedition (4.6L V-9 2WD) has had an intermittent problem of cutting out. The Check Engine light was not coming on - so I figured it is not a misfire. It drove just like it had...

Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0446 or P1450 indicates that Self-Test has detected the Evaporative Emission Control System has excessive fuel tank vacuum. Also, a DTC P0446 indicates a vent control malfunction.

Possible causes:

EVAP canister purge outlet tube (EVAP canister purge valve to EVAP canister) blockages or kinks.

EVAP canister tube (fuel tank to EVAP canister) blockages or kinks.

Fuel vapor elbow on EVAP canister contaminated.

Restricted EVAP canister.

Canister vent (CV) solenoid stuck closed (partially or fully).

Plugged or contaminated CV solenoid filter.

EVAP canister purge valve stuck open.

Fuel filler cap stuck closed (no vacuum relief).

VREF circuit open in fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor.

Damaged FTP sensor. (fuel tank pressure)

Check for kinks or bends in the fuel vapor hoses/tubes (EVAP canister purge outlet tube and EVAP canister tube).

Visually inspect EVAP canister inlet port, CV solenoid filter and canister vent hose assembly for contamination or debris.

Check CV solenoid filter for blockage or contamination.

The common things I've seen are are mud in the canister and the canister vent solenoid being shot or the wiring to the canister vent solenoid being torn off. The resistance of the solenoid should be 48-65 ohms..
Pick up a Chiltons book and will give you a diagram of where exactly you find the canister. They are like $15 at any auto store. Good luck

2005 Chevy Suburban 5.3L . getting P0488 code / Evaporative Emission Control System vent Control circuit shorted. What does that mean? How do I fix it?

i work at GM and we replace the vent vavles alot, along with evap canister and filter. but mostly due to dirt and mud sucking up into the filter .the filter is located left side of transmission by cross member, unless its been relocated already.evap canister is located at the front of gas tank or rear of it ,vent vavle is close to it .it is connected to evap canister with a tube or pipe witch ever you would like to call it. check evap for dirt or dust could be clogged.

I replaced my knock sensors the other day truck ran fine for a while then two more codes came up po107 and po449 where should i go know

The two codes may refer to the same fault/ THe p0107 says that the Manifold absolute pressure is wrong in other words the amount of air gaining entry to your inlet manifold is incorrect. The P0449 says that the vent valve on the vapour emission control system is open. I think it is more than likely that the open vent valve is allowing air to be sucked into the inlet manifold and this is also being noted by the MAP sensor. If it easy replace the vent valve. A quick fix just to keep you going until the vent valve can be replaced is to locate the vacuum line supply from the vapour emission control charcoal canister and to clamp it closed. This will remove the MAP sensor error and allow the engine to run as it should. THis is only temporary as the vent valve fault will persist until it is fixed.

Engine will turn over but wont start

DO YOU TOP OFF when you fuel up?

Few extra ounce of gasoline inside the EVAP system can cause hot restart problem.

EVAP system is design to slow vent out vapour only.

==

Locate the charcoal canister near the front bumper and remove the plastic hose.

Let the gasoline vapour vent out door for 3-5 hours (more if possible) and re-attach hose.

You any need a short burst of starting fluid to restart.

DO NOT OVER FILL or TOP OFF GAS TANK2_bing.gif.
