Unhook the serpentine belt and see if it cranks faster . Seized water pumps and AC compressor clutches can cause this issue .

SOURCE: 98 saturn sl1 won't start

If the problem occurs after the car has been driven long enough to reach normal operating temperature, the problem is the starter. If the 'no crank' occurs cold, retest the battery.

SOURCE: 1996 Saturn SL2 - No response from starter - over

It would be hard to guess but a simple diagnostic would be to use a 12v test light and see if the starter solenoid recieves a 12 v signal while turning the key. If it lights, the starter should turn over. This also gives you the oportunity to check and verify all electrical connections at the starter including the large orange fusible link wire at the large battery terminal.

86 f150 cranks slow after driven won't start till it sits awhile

Check your battery cables. The battery cables could be routed by engine or exhaust components that get the cables hot which in turn will cause resistance and cause the slow cranking. The fact that it starts fine after sitting tells me something is probably getting heat soaked. If you're sure it's not the starter I would check the cables and especially ground connections to the frame, engine block, and body. Check resistance with a multimeter if you are able. If they are the original cables I bet that's it. If the starter and alternator are good then the cables are probably at fault. I would also check the starter relay but that wouldn't cause slow cranking..

2004 Saturn ion. Car won’t start. Battery seems to be good, cuz all dash lights come on. Car won’t crank.

Does the starter make a noise when you crank it? If not, first make sure you have 12+ volts in the battery and good battery connections. If the battery has less that 9 volts, then replace the battery. Try using a jumper box or a set of jumper cables from another vehicle to start the car. If you can see the starter, have someone strike it with a hammer while turning the key to the crank position. If it starts, replace the starter.

My 2003 Saturn still wont start after replacing a new starter

Are you saying it cranks good but won't start? If so, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse. Any applicable trouble codes?
Now, if the starter motor won't even crank, have to check starter motor wiring circuits. If battery cable was taken loose to replace starter motor, that may have tripped security system, I don't know, at the moment? I need you to answer first question?

Check to see whats wrong with 01 saturn sc 3d wont start

If it won't even ''crank'', then it is probably a bad ignition switch. If it does ''crank'', then there are too many possibilities for internet diagnosis. (But if _no crank_ after starter and battery replacement, it's a good bet that it's a bad ignition switch).

1996 Geo Metro LSI 1.3L Has issues starting. It cranks but won't turn over just replaced it March 2 2013

Check your battery connections at the starter. It may not be getting the needed volts. Just make sure they're clean and tight at the starter and the battery both. Good luck!

When you say it won't start, do you mean it cranks but won't fire, or it just won't crank? If it just won't crank, you could be having an issue with the starter relay. The often become intermittent before failure. Many owners do not know there is a starter relay because it was added as a recall item i order to protect the iginition switch from burnout. The starter relay is located in the very front of the engine compartment, just to the left of the battery, on the back side of the radiator crossmember.

I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Elcipse GT 6 cyl. I have had 2 starters fail and the 3rd one is showing the early signs of failing. This one after only 2 years. I don't understand why this keeps happening. ...

I would replace the positive cable, and the ground cable on the vehicle, try and go larger than what is on the vehicle,I am talking about, how big around the cable is,this will give the starter more amps when starting, and less strain on the battery and the starter, but go ahead and replace the starter, because there might be some damage to it by now, also have the battery checked, load checked, and the alternator out put also.
