SOURCE: How do I check the clutch fluid to a 1999 Mercury Cougar 4cyl

The brake master cylinder reservoir has a separate chamber and is used to supply the hydraulic clutch system. So make sure master cylinder reservoir is full.

Here is a pic of the system.

SOURCE: Where is the Power steering Fluid located?

This is what it looks like:

b0cbdd2.jpg
THERE IS NO CAP TO FILL IT LIKE NORMAL POWER STEERING SYSTEMS. IT HAS TO BE SERVICED FROM THE INLET HOSE.

  1. Fill pump with hydraulic fluid through intake line. Turn the pulley/shaft by hand until fluid comes out of pressure port.
Look underneath the car up at the driver's side of the car above your tie rods (or look at it from above). It is mounted to your steering gear.

How do I check and add ATF fluid in a 2004 VW convertible beetle s turbo

Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) is an important component for the proper function of your 2004 VW Beetle Convertible Turbo's transmission. Here are the steps to check and add ATF fluid:
  1. Locate the transmission dipstick. It is typically located near the back of the engine on the driver's side.
  2. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a rag.
  3. Re-insert the dipstick fully and remove it again to check the fluid level. The fluid should be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the dipstick.
  4. If the fluid level is low, add fluid through the dipstick tube. It is recommended to use the same type of fluid specified by the manufacturer, Volkswagen G 052 162 A2 or Volkswagen G 052 990 A2.
  5. Repeat the process of checking and adding fluid until the fluid level is between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the dipstick.
  6. Run the engine for a few minutes and recheck the fluid level to make sure that it is correct.

Vw beetle emergency break light flashing

Check the brake fluid level!!!
Use recommended fluid (DOT 3, 4, or 5, whatever it says on the reservoir cap).
If the level is fine, check the level sensor, connector, and wiring attached to the brake fluid reservoir. These wires and connectors are known to corrode.
If the fluid is very low, and you need to top it up, there is a leak. if that is the case, tow it to a shop immediately.

After i did a brake job how do i get the brake light off

Check the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir. If its low add fluid. If its full check the e-brake lever to make sure it is all the way down. It is possible that the level sensor in the reservoir is bad also. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

What is the reservoir just forward of the break fluid reservoir, ith has a green twist knob on it.. ours has virturally no fluid in it and doesn't reach the indicator stick... what goes in there?

A GREEN Top with a slot in the top ? Black Bottle with hose coming out of it towards the front ?

This is the power steering reservoir bottle. Your handbook should tell you what kind of fluid is needed.

Could be brake fluid, so look at the brake fluid resevoir.
Could also be water from the evaporator, from the air conditioner.

What is the small black plastic oil container with the green cap immediately to the left of the battery on a 2004 VW beetle? I was cleaning my engine and accidentally broke off the barbed fitting and hose...

That is the power steering fluid reservoir. Be sure to replace any fluid lost with the correct type.

Volkswagen uses a specific type of fluid. Using the wrong one will result in damage to the power steering pump and/or rack and pinion.

Consult your owners manual or the Volks dealer to be sure you are getting the right fluid.

Good luck.

Where do I find brake fluid top up in engine on 2.0 L Bettle 2003 as I can not find it

power steering reservoir is the green cap that is attached to the battery box.

To add more brake fluid, the container is located under the air filter. You have to take off the air filter to get under enough to get to it.

Brake fluid resrvoir

The best way to confirm your thoughts is to look for a rubber pipe coming off the reservoir about halfway down from the top. If you find this it confirms that the brake reservoir supplies the clutch. Any DOT4 brake fluid will do.
