The only way I've found to turn the lights off is that each time I leave my car I have to turn the little knob on the turn signal indicator to the bottom position (turns off all lights). But that means that every time I start the car I have to manually turn them on with the knob, because the knob also controls the lights for the dashboard dials, radio and such. It's honestly really annoying. I have of course verified that all doors are properly closed but I have have no clue what to do next. Any help/tips or tricks will be greatly appreciated.
Ok there's a few things that cause this (1) any one of the doors can be moving because the striker on the frame is loose or has moved and it is not holding the door locked all the way breaking the ground try to move the doors after closing them with the windows down any movement will break the ground and keep the interior light on (2) there is a wire that is inside of each door that has a plug on it and it attaches to the door lock latch mechanism in the rear of the door where it grabs the striker I just mentioned it has 4 pins/wires check that one of the wires is not broken off or that the plug is corroded and needs to be cleaned or that the lock plug pins/4/need to be cleaned (3) the rear lift gate can have the same problems mentioned above and the lock/latch or striker needs adjustment if the door is moving when you push/pull on it or it needs to be cleaned (4) all the door locks and lift gate are powered when you press the door/lift gate lock /unlock button if one doesn't work the that lock me be broken and it's keeping the light on so check them for operation (6) check all the wires for continuity through the circuits for each door from the plugs on the locks (8) you may be able to unplug all the lock plugs to shut off the light when the doors are closed then 1 by 1 plug one in and see if the light now stays on after you close the door if it does you found where the problem is and if you can't fix it you must replace it or leave it unplugged possibly but you have an anti theft system in this vehicle which may keep activating the alarm

SOURCE: 2004 jeep grand cherokee engine light comes on
sounds like a few diffrent problems, the check engine light has to be scaned, autozone scans for free, just write the code down then well go from there, the locks /windows, check all fuses first then check for broken wires that come out of door and go in the side of dash, its by the door hinges in the rubber boot, they often break from the door opening and closing, this may also solve the door open problem, good luck, hope this is helpful.

Id look at the headlight switch and do some voltage tests to see whats coming out of there. Pay close attention to any wires which look like someone was in there already.People can mess stuff up faster and better than the vehicle can by itself!

I had same problem it is a ground wire broken in the harness rubber boot between dthe driver door. Peel back the rubber that protects wires and you will find broken ground wire(black) add a piece of wire solder and wrap with electrical tape put rubber boot back into door everything should work.
