If it's and automatic transmission it sounds like your torque converter is not unlocking if it's a manual it could be the idle air control sensor or the mass air flow sensor.

Did you go off road in the mud or woods?If so the connecting plug where all the connect probably has gotten disconnected.I think it is near or between the fuel tank and rear bumper.

Replacing the heatercore on a wrangler is not easy. The dash has to be pulled foward,cables have to be disconnected,heater hoses disconnected,heater housing dropped and disassembled. I suggest for you to buy a repair manual and it will guide through all the steps to perform this task.

check the vacuum line on the right side of the engine. There should be an elbow connector connecting the line to the engine. Does interior fan only come out of the defroster vents by chance?
