ignition timing off, check engine coolant level make sure coolant level is not too low.make sure you have 50/50 mixture of antifreeze and water in cooling system.if been long time i would flush out engine block and radiator.replace water pump and thermostat and replace radiator pressure cap.make sure front grille and radiator core not blocked restricted preventing air flow through the radiator.make sure cooling fans are working also.check engine oil if looks like milk shake you have blowed head gasket which will cause car over heat.
the cheapest first move is to find a cheap mobile mechanicthat has a scanner to read the fault codes
those codes will show you the area of the problem
That will keep mechanics from replace repairing because you will
have some idea of what is wrong
misfiring from
low fuel pressure is a good possibility so have it tested before replacing anything-- could be from a failed pump, blocked fuel filter, faulty pressure regulator or failed pump relay ( fuse ) low fuel level in the tank ( faulty sender unit is common in ford )
more costly areas are crank shaft and or cam shaft position sensor problems so check carefully the wires and connections yourself (saves money)
lastly always use an accredited service center ( not a local mechanic ) that has experience on your make of vehicle and get quotes first
SOUND LIKE THERMOSTAT STICKING CLOSE.REPLACE THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.ADD 50 /50 MIXTURE ANTIFREEZE AND WATER TO THE COOLANT SYSTEM.CHECK TO MAKE SURE WATER PUMP NOT LEAKING IF SO WATER PUMP NEED REPLACING. ALSO DO A QUICK CHECK.CHECK ENGINE OIL DIP STICK. IF LOOKS LIKE MILK SHAKE HEAD GASKET LEAKING.
To replace water pump: 1) remove timing belt 2) remove thermostat housing and water pump inlet pipe 3) remove alternator bracket 4) remove water pump and O ring
Pump bushings could be going out if the technician is not properly setting belt tension.
Vibration could be either severe engine miss or, most likely, you should check all engine and transmission mounts for broken rubber.
It sounds like he has the spark plug wires in the wrong firing order. Those are the "hoses" you see on the distributor cap. He changed the rotor $7 part. The timing won't make it shake. It can be off 10 degrees from specification an still run ok. Is it a 6 cylinder or V8?
I'm pretty sure he has 2 spark plug wires out of order. He needs to look up firing order of engine.
When he transferred wires from the distributor cap or put them back on after the plug change, he must have put 2 in different places.
Only other possibility is he cracked a spark plug installing them, it happens.
P0125 sets when engine coolant temp does not reach temperature for closed loop operation within a set amount of time. May be a faulty sensor or thermostat. P0420 Is related to a faulty rear 02sensor. P1518 PCM & TAC module communication detected missing or invalid serial data. If TAC related repair has been done, clear DTC & recheck system. It may be necessary to preform clear codes function twice to clear this DTC. make sure starting system & charging system are functioning properly. Low voltage can cause this DTC to set. This should help. Let me know how its going.
what do you mean by repairing manifold?
was it an intake manifolld or exhaust manifold?
either one of them if there is a leak then it would trigger the oxygen sensor, but what is exactly the number of the code? it should start with a po.... some thing.
sound like when engine cold there is a leak then when it hot things got expanded and run better?
You probably have an open in a wire where you are shaking them. How many wires are in the loom your shaking? If not many it may not take long to diagnose. I there are a lot of wires and it looks overwelming you may want to consider getting another harness from a salvage yard.
