for searchers, i answer
open the hood, see EPA sticker, ? it shows engine type , spec and even spark plugs needed. bingo> in USA< not use, do tell? we cant guess this.
mine is a 2004 grand vitara, no on grands here. that year. USA>
but mine is a V6, you have V6? sure 24v.
the v6 has 12 valve per bank, and is 24valves.
in USA ours is 2.5L other countries have 2.0L or other V6, suzuki
our V6 is called H25.

get #1 piston on top dead center and exhaust cam so valves are closed ,get intake valves open

check if your car engine valves are hydraulic or adjustable ones. If are adjustable do the valve clearance as probably are tight. If are hydraulic and I believe is possible you do a long miles oil change as a result to cause the hydraulics not to work properly. You have to do an engine oil flush and renew oil and filter and try.

Don't bother. They are hydraulic and rely on oil pressure to obtain a zero clearance when everything is OK. Your oil system may be sludgy or you may be using the incorrect viscosity oil.

Top-end tune? This engine has oil-pressure-fed valve lash adjusters. There are some snake oils (engine oil additives) out there that claim to be able to free-up lifters and lash-adjusters, and you may have some success with following their instructions. After that, I would be checking what grade of oil you should be using in you climate and doing regular (possibly more frequent) oil changes.
