It's a 2009 Ford Explorer XLT 4x4. I have tried everything short of yanking the shifter out of console and twisting steering wheel off(lol) to get wheel to lock and gimme back my key. Thanks

Shifting Actuator! My key was in mine for a year! I just used clicker to lock and unlock it. You can unhook the battery and it will demagnatize to let the key out. I had mine just pinned back and can get my keys out now. Only problem with this is it can be turned off in any gear and could roll.

SOURCE: Overdrive light on gear shifter is blinking?

The overdrive light blinking indicates a code has been stored in you computers transmission control module, the cost will depend on the problem, some have had problems with the torque convertor clutch slipping, could be more major, get the code pulled out and I can provide you with a more complete answer. -Jared

You'll need to have it diagnosed. Without actually looking at it myself, there are numerous possible causes and to take you through each one would take days.

96 FORD EXPLORER XLT 4X4 LIGHT FLASHING

Does the 4x4 "actually" work because this is a signal that the system has a problem. Its like a check engine light that comes on or flashes when there is a problem with the engine or emission system.
