My 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo is starting to have a ''slight'' hesitation after I shut it off and re-start it again. WHen I accelerate at first it hesitates a bit. I let off the gas for a few seconds and then give it gas and it goes and then continues to run fine.

A slight hesitation after engine shut off due to engine running rich meaning not meeting golden air:gas ratio of 14.6:1 so fuel residue in chamber continue to burn for the last moment. The same rich fuel problem that was why you had to let gas off during acceleration. Need to Check out the O2 sensor Check out MAP sensor Good luck

I have a '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 liter that won't idle

Check your throtle postition sensor. It monitors what postion the throtle is at and sends that info to the ecm. It will go bad and cause that problem.

1997 jeep grand Cherokee laredo hesitation problem

You should add a rs4 performance chip or the fuel economy chip also made by rs4. there like 70 bucks. If the problem is electrical changing your chip could solve the problem. Even if is doesnt work the chip will make your truck idle more smoothly, have better throttle response, and you will add 3-7 mpg. I bought one for my 1997 jeep grand cherokee straight six, and it felt like i was driving a different truck . It mae that much of a difference...you cant loose!!!Like everyone says , it could be a vac leak or a clogged fuel filter , soetimes bad gas...your problem is a needle in haystack. Try the chip...I hope this helps
