If you have a dipstick under your hood for the tranny fluid, then fill it in there slowly... if not, you'll need to fill it through the filler plug that will be on the side of the transmission just above the halfway point
Before you add transmission fluid, check the fluid level first. You willneed a medium-sized funnel to add fluid.
The engine must be warmed un and running when you check.
Locate the transmission fluid dipstick and clean it then check the fluid level.
If low, determine how much fluid to add (check dipstick)..
Turn off engine.
Mount or hold the funnel onto the transmission fluid dipstick tube (pipe) and slowly add fluid.
Hope this helps!
SOURCE: add transmission fluid
On 91 vehicles there's a 17mm allen screw on the side towards the left front wheel. Open it add the oil there on a level surface and fill till oil reaches the hole and starts coming out. DO NOT FILL OIL FROM THE TOP where what seems to be a plug. It's actually the timing marks and houses the clutch. Put oil there and you'll need a new clutch.
SOURCE: where do you add transmission fluid
i believe your trooper is like my isuzu rodeo which have a sealed transmission which could be checked by yourself by srewing off the bolt on the top of the tranny, or take it to a transmission place and they will charge you about $140 to replace the fluids on it
SOURCE: !995 jeep gr cherk. transmission fluid. add hot
Its best to add while all is hot..
Leave it runing in park while adding fluid..
Put a little at a time and keep checking being careful not to over fill..
The dipstick mesures in pints - not quarts..
Rate well ;o)
