Yesterday, my 2004 Nissan Quest had the front end bushings and control arms replaced. The car still has a "knuckling" noise when I'm making semi-hard left or right hand turns. Forget about hard turns!! Shouldn't the replacement of the bushings and control arms have fixed that problem?

i presume the mechanic that did the work checked the tie rods and ball joints ? also after that work was a wheel alignment done ?

It usually does but you have also an intermediate shaft that connects steering column to steering rack, I know those at times can cause the exact noise you describe although what you replaced usually does.

I have a 2001 daewoo nubria and the front end seems to wonder theres free play in the steering and its buggin me cuz i cant figure it out

Check your control arm bushings and tie-rod ends.
I have a 1999 Nubira Wagon CDX that had the same problem. I changed the control arms and the outer tie-rod ends and no problem now. Control arm bushings are known to be a chronic problem with these cars.

A simple check: Jack one side of the car. The control arm is that part of the suspension that connects to the bottom of the turn knuckle. It has three attach points: steering knuckle, cross member, and body. Check the cross member bolt location, if you can see shinny metal like a bushing, then the rubber is gone and you need to replace the bushings/control arm. Also - MAKING SURE YOUR CAR IS SUPPORTED COMPLETELY! - give the thing a good shake in and out. If is shifts more than a very small fraction, it's probably worn.

Change the tie-rod ends at the same time as they are very likely worn as well (manufacturers recommendation).

If you are a good mechanic and have a pickling fork, sledge hammer, and time, go for it. If not - have a shop do it, as they can probably align the steering afterwards (this will need to be done regardless). Watch out for the split pins in the arm - they are a bear! Replace them are turn them around when re-installing. Luck

Front end noise like a tum tum tum noise running

check your shock absorber mountings condition/ your knuckle arm ball joints/ your tie rod ends and stabilizer bar bushes it must be one of them causing that abnormal tum tum sound.

2004 Nissan Quest front control arm bushing replacement.

Sorry guys not a solution but I too have an 04 Quest, which supposedly has worn controller arm bushings and Nissan says I need both controller arms replaced. For a total of $950!!! I was told that they need to replace the whole arm and cannot replace only the bushings. Now reading the posts on this site I find that to be untrue. Seems all I need to spend is anywhere from $25 to $35 per bushing.

Nissan Suspension noise

sounds to me like your front control arm bushings are broken. have your mechanic check the bushings in rear of the control arm. the ones that are right by the 3 bolts in the control arm in rear. those bushings brake and cause play in the whole assembly, causing a rattle. Its a black round bushing about 2 inches in diamater. its most likely all separated. common problem. Have him look at your stabilizer bar links also.
