SOURCE: black smoke from exhaust

This is almost certainly a split hose - mine was the large hose coming out of the bottom of the EGR valve.

Speaking to a parts guy at my local Jaguar dealer, he said that the new part is uprated as Jaguar are aware that this is a problem.

The split allows more air in and results in the ECU changing the mixture and over fuelling - Black smoke is an indication of un-burnt Diesel. As well as the black smoke you may also notice a whistle/whine or sucking noise when you accelerate and a lack of power / lumpiness at around 2000rpm.

Hope that helps!

SOURCE: Rough shifting automatic transmission on Honda Accord from 1st to 2nd gear

it has a problem with the second gear drum it cracks and does not fully engauge the n shifts to 3rd ..many honda owners also learn the 8 bucks a quart is the only fluid to pour in a honda..but remember 3 qaurts per drain and fill the tranny holds 7q ....it will take a case to do a drain flush...a high pressure flush will ruin a automatic tranny with alot of miles or metal deposits floating around inside..DRAIN AND FILL 3 QUARTS AT A TIME NO GASKET NEEDED ITS BUILT AND DESIGNED LIKE A MANUAL TRANNY

SOURCE: Sooty exhaust and excessive oil consumption?

2006 C4S Tip, 26,000 miles Now in Porsche dealership having the engine stripped. They are suggesting that one of the pistons is starting to fail. Their diagnostic equipment shows no fault codes but further testing has shown that one bank is having to work harder than the other side. Their prognosis is a new engine. Do not let your warranty expire!!! Also see here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=48&t=731645&mid=154532&i=0&nmt=OPC - Does this sound odd to you?&mid=154532

SOURCE: Jag X TYPE Diesel Black smoke coming from exhaust on acceleration

i had this problem and thought the fuel filter oil filter needed replacing so i have just had a service done but problem is still there but not as bad. been told it could be the AGR valve or a split pipe going to it which recuirculates unused fuel back to burn again. therefore unspent fuel is coming out of the exhaust causing the black smoke. i am still looking for the answer aswell, hope this helps.

Would a faulty egr valve on my 02 PT Cruiser 2.2crd cause excessive black smoke and injector knock under full throttle....thanks

black smoke is over fueling and although the turbo appears to spin ok the vale variation actuator may not be operating correctly
there are vanes in the exhaust turbine housing that are altered to increase the exhaust gas flow onto the turbine blades for quicker acceleration and these vanes are operated by a vacuum actuator and rod by a sensor
the vanes are subject to extreme heat and can rust stuck open or the hose gets hard and cracks
s not allowing the vanes to work
I would be concentrating in this area before the EGR valve
run the fault codes as well to get a better idea of the possible fault as some systems only put the light on for extreme conditions in engine and transmission

I have Hyndia Tucson 2006 Deisel. I have a problem in it. This problem is smoke heavily (Black) and there is no intention of any force during press the accelerator.

mean there might be fuel leaking into the engine or the air to deisel ratio is and not atomised correctly. the main causes are normally is the air filter that isnt allowing air into the engine. Fuel filter can also be at fault not allowing enough fuel in or allowing to much in the engine sometimes. This causes the chamber to burn it out. Fuel injector if fualty could allow to much fuel or not enough. My personal suggestion would be to run fuel injector cleaner first, then change the air filter. If that doesn't fix it change the fuel filter. I would go the cheapest route first. Is is prolly something simple

Smoke coming from exhaust at higher speeds or when putting foot down, also acceleration jerky like am blipping the accelerator not cruising used to cruise 110 no bother now its taking it to reach 100

If the smoke is blue, it is burning oil. If it is black or dark grey it is running way too rich, like your choke is stuck on. That would also explaing the jerky acceleration and poor response. Your fuel consumption will also skyrocket.

Hard shift and blinking overdrive

The blinking overdrive button is telling u that a serious fault has occurred in the electronic controls or a mechanical fault such as excess slippage is occurring.
