The transmission sensor or speed sensor is located in most vehicle located on the transmission case. These speed sensors are driven by a gear located on the output shaft. The speed sensor's driven gear can be either machined or fastened by a clip. The driven gear is made by plastic to make it softer than the drive gear. It's located on the end of the vehicle speed sensor.
In spite of what Firestone did it still sounds like you have a defective speed sensor. Other people have also had this problem and it was solved by replacing the speed sensor.
The problem is a gear internal failure the gear who drive the speed sensor is defect the is why you don't have speed sensor reading. There is a way you can verify that remove the speed sensor drive it with a drill check the dashboard you will see.
And what fault codes prompted you to replace these parts you listed? You never mention fuel pressure readings under a load, how about excessive exhaust system back pressure? Has the transmission been scanned for fault codes?
if you changed the driver side axle the problem is probaly not from what you did. but if you changed the pass side axle, which has a gear cut into it that the speed sensor gear mesh with, that you probaly damaged the speed sensor gear, pull the speed sensor out of the extention housing on the pass side of the transmission and inspect for damage.on the gear. if no damage and the wires are clean and tight ,replac speed sensor.
you replaced the output speed sensor, try replacing the input speed sensor, sometimes called the turbine speed sensor, thats where the computer gets the info to shift.
input and output speed sensors are located on the side of the transmission case across from each other. they are plastic and screw into the trans on 3.3l and 3.8l
3.0 may have the sensor where the pass side axle goes into the tranny
